I can't believe I waited all those years for this dogshit.
>>
i didnt even know this happened thats how unremarkable it was
>>
This gets way too much hate
>>
>nuanimation
grotesque
>>
I cannot believe you have such an addiction to whining. Even made a thread so you could whine some more.
>>
Is this actually bad or is it a classic /co/ case of "new thing bad"
>>
>>153378785
actually bad. Didn’t have the spirit of the original.
Actually the first 20-so minutes (set in the city) is great and hits the perfect tone. Then they actually go to the jungle and it turns into magic mystical mumbo jumbo with Arnold’s parents frozen in magic aztec carbonite and Harold gets inflated and rolled over a bunch of adults and etc etc. went down many IQ points and turned into a different show.

I did like one moment in the jungle when Arnold thinks Helga being tough is hot. Felt like he never appreciated that part of her in the original.
>>
>>153378861
Oh yeah that sounds bad. At least it has its moments I guess but the magic stuff should not be in there at all
>>
>>153378785
I remember it being pretty mediocre, with the only memorable thing being the nostalgia of returning voice actors. But also, they changed a lot of the voice actors, including Arnold himself, who sounds way too young.
>>
>>153378909
Arnold went through 4 VA in the original, you cant expect a grown ass man to be doing his voice. Girls don't change as much wjich is why Francesca and the rest all came back.
>>
>>153378785
Neither. I think people just realized that closure was not actually what they wanted. It put an end to the theories, the headcanons, the fiction that became bigger than the show itself for the fandom throughout the years. This is like a band playing its biggest hit. The concert is over and everyone has to go home.
If this movie remained the same, but had an added ending that dovetailed into a potential new show, i.e. the Patakis, the fandom would have loved it.
>>
>Run time 81 mins
Is that really consider a movie?
>>
>>153377815
Hey Arnold was never good
>>
It wasn't bad at all, but it wasn't very remarkable either. I'm just glad the show got proper closure at all.
>>
>>153379056
I'm glad it's over. Shows need to wrap up and dont have to continue forever through theory crafting because things weren't explained. I'll take wrapping everything up with mismatched scraps of paper than no wrapping at all.
We know what happened to Miles and Stella.
We see a glimpse of Arnold's life with them back.
We get closure for Helga.
Shows over. We can move on.
>>
>>153378785
depends are you ok with arnold's parents being in a comma for over a decade, just for them to barely show up during the movie
>>
>>153378959
>you cant expect a grown ass man to be doing his voice
Helga’s voice actor is a grown ass woman. But I get your point.
>>
>>153379215
You forgot your trip, Truteal
>>
>>153377815
>Arnold is some magical chosen one kid
the whole premise was dogshit from the start, what the fuck were you expecting
>>
>>153379056
We all thought Pigeon Man was a metaphore for suicide before this movie. Wild stuff.
>>
>>153378861
I must have already memory-holed all this
>>
>>153379387
Their voices don't change as much. Smith would have already been 11 or 12 when HA began and finished puberty long before it ended.
IIRC Arnold 1 got to voice Wolfgang. Arnold 2 was the longest one and was given Ludwuig once he aged out. I think thr last one prior to TJM was also his brother

it was okay

>First Hey Arnold movie comes out
>It's basically just an extended special where they fuck around and have an adventure in the city
>Everyone hates it because it's not The Jungle Movie action adventure where they save Arnold's Parents
>Second Hey Arnold movie comes out
>It's The Jungle Movie action adventure where they save Arnold's Parents
>Everyone hates it because it's not just an extended special where they fuck around and have an adventure in the city
>It was great when it was thing I remember and bad when it was thing I originally asked for.

People hated the first film for the exact same thing as the 2nd.
The plot, which centers on superspies and stopping a corporate developer bulldozing the city, was criticized as generic, unserious, and by-the-numbers, lacking the stories typical of the show which centered on the characters.
Like damn it’s about regular kids bullying and crushing on eachother not superspies and mayan prophecies and a full fight sequence of the schoolkids fighting mercenaries in the amazon by rolling an obese Harold on them like a boulder.

I think there's a legitimate argument to be had about revivals needing to have timeskips comparable to how long the show has been away. What would have been more interesting for me would be to see the kids as adults, if they've achieved their dreams, if they repeat the same mistakes of their parents, and those things can be tackled with a complexity and maturity appropriate to its now much older fans. Nothing edgy, the tone doesn't need to change, but it can broach topics that it couldn't have before, and that's one way to make something feel fresh again.

*it should tell you something everyone’s favourite episode was Arnold trying to get his Vietnamese neighbor in contact with his missing daughter for christmas.
That’s a kind of plot that would be perfect as a self-reserved film that doesn’t jump the shark.

*Also noone liked the Helga kiss scene in the first movie because it was so unearned by the stupid plot.
Arnold: Why did you help me? You usually hate me.
Helga: BECAUSE I WANNA HAVE YOUR BABIES FOOTBALL HEAD!!!
*violently tonguefucks him for 3 minutes*

You’re gonna waste a kiss scene like that on a movie not even about Helga?
>>
>>153377815
Arnold's parents honestly should have just stayed dead and never even been hinted at the possibility of them being alive
>>
>>153379728
The problem with that idea, which is the same reason the movies turned out the way they did, is that it would never get funded by the studio. They want a cartoon to be full of action, adventure, set pieces, and maybe a celebrity voice. They don't want to fund drama. They want the shark jumping stunt.
>>
>>153379586
I’m not saying the show didn’t have its surreal, or even supernatural moments, but I never expected the actual Jungle Movie to be built around so much magical super power bullshit, or for Arnold’s parents to be literally frozen in a bleep boop wizard pyramid. Was this always going to be the plan for it? Did the entire fanbase misunderstand Bartlett was going in a more childish direction than the show proper? Was it a Nickelodeon rewrite situation when they delusionally greenlit twenty nostalgia reboots and wanted to appeal to an audience that never watched the original? All the movie really gives me is shipping fuel, which is like fanbase fast food.
>>
>>153379893
You’re just uncreative. That sort of plot could absolutely have action, comedy, and spectacle. Every good movie is built around drama. The first two Rugrats movies aren’t that far off from what you described. Heck, the Wild Thornberries movie is about Eliza going to boarding school.
>>
>>153379749
Too much magical shit, that's not the Hey Arnold we grew up with
>>
>>153379586
I like the first movie. It was meant to be a love letter for the series as a pseudo final episode. And I guess one love letter wasn’t enough so they had to make another one. I actually like that they went back and did that.

You sound upset.
