>>153393036What's the difference between reparations or reconciliation?
>>153393036>You can't make us leave here. This has been our home for a hundred years>everyone who called this place home 101 years ago? Nah, fuck' em, and their families.>This land being used for Earth Kingdom citizens is definitely not necessary for the rebuilding of the Earth Kingdom after a hundred years of war.>not like there are still boats full of refugees escaping to Ba Sing Se from all around.Seriously, this comic always kind of felt weird. For one, why is there just an active community of Fire Nation and Earth Kingdom in a militarily occupied colony just living happily together? Why would the Fire Nation allow that? Why would the Earth Kingdom let themselves be treated like that? Were there any indication that Omashu turned New Ozai had fire nation citizens co-mingling with the Earth Kingdom people there? All we ever saw were Fire Nation nobles and soldiers. Granted, soldiers have off-time and families too, but it just seems like a dangerous combination to just allow. The world hates the Fire Nation with a burning passion (ba dum tss) just look at how the old west town Zuko goes to reacts just seeing that he's a Firebender. Everything good about him was erased, even after hearing that he's an outcast who was disowned by the Firelord. But also, let's just play a game of "logical conclusions"Yu Dao was taken 100 years ago, so it gets to stay as a Fire Nation Earth Kingdom mix (whatever the fuck that means). Omashu was taken a few months ago, so does that city also get the same treatment? Where's the line in between there?Really, they should have just made that town a part of the Earth Kingdom again, but leave the civilians alone to live their lives. If they have a problem with being citizens of the Earth Kingdom, then they can catch the next boat back to Ash-Maker central for all I care.

>>153393036No be exterminated for their bullshit
>>153397160Who?
>>153393036Why would they, they didn't actually lose the 100 year war, they just concluded it.
>>153401216 Might depend on your definition of losing getting nothing out of it and your leader was defeated by the Avatar to make it stop.
>>153393036no, azula need personal army and set everything right
>>153393036Here are the main points and arguments from the thread you’re viewing, distilled into a clean, structured summary while ignoring all noise, memes, and irrelevant replies.(Reference: ) Core QuestionShould the Fire Nation, after the Hundred Year War, pursue reparations or reconciliation? The thread explores what accountability or healing should look like after a century-long imperial war in Avatar: The Last Airbender, especially in relation to the Fire Nation colonies in Earth Kingdom territory. Key Themes & Arguments1. Confusion about “reparations vs. reconciliation”One early reply asks what the difference even is, suggesting the thread is split between:Material compensation / returning land (reparations)Political/social healing without major structural changes (reconciliation)2. Criticism of the Comics’ Handling of the Colonies (especially Yu Dao)Several posters argue the Promise comics create contradictions:Why would Fire Nation and Earth Kingdom civilians be peacefully coexisting in a militarily occupied colony? Posters question the plausibility of mixed communities forming under an occupying force. Why would the Fire Nation allow Earth Kingdom civilians to remain? The show portrays the Fire Nation as deeply xenophobic and expansionist. Why would Earth Kingdom civilians tolerate Fire Nation rule? Given the widespread hatred of the Fire Nation, posters find this unlikely.Omashu vs. Yu Dao inconsistency If Yu Dao gets to remain a hybrid city because it was colonized 100 years ago, what about Omashu, taken only months before the war ended?Posters ask: Where is the line?Suggested alternative Return the land to the Earth Kingdom but allow civilians to stay if they want.If they don’t want Earth Kingdom citizenship, they can return to the Fire Nation.
>>1534019433. Fire Nation AccountabilitySome posters argue the Fire Nation should face consequences:One extreme reply says they should be “exterminated,” reflecting the anger some characters in-universe would feel.Others argue the Fire Nation didn’t “lose” the war so much as conclude it, implying they may not feel obligated to pay reparations.4. Historical ParallelsA poster mentions there are real-world parallels to post-occupation mixed communities, though the thread doesn’t elaborate.5. Azula FactionOne reply jokingly suggests Azula should return with a personal army to “set everything right,” reflecting the meme side of the discussion rather than a serious argument. Overall TakeawayThe thread centers on a major tension in Avatar worldbuilding:How do you ethically resolve a century-long imperial occupation when entire generations have been born in the colonies? The posters highlight:The moral obligation to return stolen landThe practical complications of mixed communitiesThe inconsistencies between the show’s portrayal of the Fire Nation and the comics’ more conciliatory approachThe debate ultimately reflects the broader question of whether post-war justice should prioritize restoring what was lost or building something new.The End.
>>153401428>no, azula need personal army and set everything rightWhy?
>>153393036All I remember from the comics (from the ones I read anyways), was that my boy Zuko consistently got shit on by everyone. I fucking hate them and disregard whatever they say for that alone. Also, would you be eager to rejoin a kingdom where the king is more preoccupied with his bear than his actual people? I mean, nice bear, but still.
>>153403323Go on?
>>153393036Reconciliation.
>>153404411Why reconciliation?
>>153394886>For one, why is there just an active community of Fire Nation and Earth Kingdom in a militarily occupied colony just living happily together? It has been 100 years, and that is the earliest conquered area. Eventually people just learned to live with each other.>Why would the Fire Nation allow that? Why would the Earth Kingdom let themselves be treated like that? Lmao true, but the AVATAR literally decided to make that City his personal project, and Aang is strong enough to have his will respected. EK was the most screwed on this.>Yu Dao was taken 100 years ago, so it gets to stay as a Fire Nation Earth Kingdom mix (whatever the fuck that means). Not quite. The territory and the region surrounding it became independent and a place for all nations, as part of Aang's personal project. It was essentially the avatar's base of operations as a city-state.
>>153406444What?
>>153406633Go on.
The Earth Kingdom deserved to lose that land, their nation has never not been depicted as a shithole to live in.
>>153393036They shouldn't. Because the Fire Nation paying reparations to the Earth Kingdom completely undermines the original series message of forgiving your enemies and letting the past stay in the past. But because Bryke are leftists they probably will. Konietzko absolutely believes in reparations to native american tribes and returning stolen land. He's marched with several different native tribes both in the US and Canada protesting oil pipelines on their reservations. Oh and here's a screencap of his Tumblr after Trump won the election.
>>153394886>Why would the Fire Nation allow that?Exactly! They've been built up the entire series to be basically Nazis. Ethnonationalists. Aint no way a Fire Nation/Earth Kingdom mixed breed wouldn't be treated like an abomination against nature if the Fire Nation had actually won the war.
>>153409413I don't think you read the OP. It says quote Should the Fire Nation after the 100-year war do Reparations or Reconciliation?
>>153406633The post 100 year war world would be much more dangerous with a female avatar. Girl Aang would be out of commission for years at a time while she's pregnant with the next generation of Air Nomads.
>>153409870>Reparations or ReconciliationThey're pretty much the same thing.
>>153409993No that pretty different,
