Making a show based around a limited cast in confinement inherently lends itself to deep, layered characterizations and explorations thereof, but TADC spends a lot of its runtime with the characters, but like you pointed out they just talk AT one another and end up feeling two dimensional much of the time which runs counter to the message of people being deeper than their "archetypes" to put it how Jax did. We don't know anything about the majority of these characters besides the barest character quirks. I understand that's partially a product of the circus's mental manipulation, but I'm not asking for their SSNs or even their real names like some weirdos pester Goose about. Zooble talks about having goals and dreams, but besides us knowing they were a bartender and a tattoo artist, we are not clued in on them. But we can spend an entire episode with Gangle learning that they're not only a weeb, but a wagie as well, and how that causes them mental anguish. I think that's a good thing for Gangle to have, but even in that we get just the barest look into her neuroticism, desire for control, and forlorn outlook on her own dreams and abilities before it's back to the cast bickering with Jax. Pomni is just an audience surrogate for most of the runtime. I just feel like some more time could've been given for more moments like Pomni confronting Jax and Kinger consoling Ragatha.
