They might have some kind of horrible fungus or bacteria because of their habits. And they would likely have their personalities based on characters from either Warriors, Stand By Me, or Lost Boys. Shredder would be based on Toshiro Mifune and would be a washed up actor that could never make it big outside of shitty Toku shows in the 80s.

About how the turtles would be washed-up 50-something years olds because they were teens back in the 80s and they had killed off their iteration of the Foot somewhere in the early 90s and the OSI just didn't give a shit because they were too preoccupied with the Pyramid Wars and the Guild's renaissance with the destruction of Sphinx. I don't remember a lot of the details but I remember liking it.
