Today I saw an HD-era Simpsons episode that I liked.
>>153415558I've seen plenty that I liked, some modern eps are pretty fun
I felt the same way, and realized modern Simpsons aren't actually "good" so much as Western animation in general is so bad now that it no longer sticks out as a show that's past its prime. It sucked way harder near the beginning of the zombie era because it had to compete with much stronger cartoons.
>>153415558500 Keys is underrated, it rarely shows up in the good modern simpsons lists but I liked it.
Honestly even with its many lows over the years, Simpsons stays entertaining even if it's not as funny as it used to be. The hate people throw towards the newer stuff feels forced a lot of the time
>>153415674Oh the hate was totally deserved, near fox death simpsons were truly a dark time for the show, im in the opinion that they started to slowly regain their charm and humor once the mouse stepped in, yeah they still release some stinkers per season but there aren't as many compared to late years fox simpsons, hell current season is probably the first time i enjoyed almost all of the episodes released so far.
>>153415674>>153415737The problem with the hate is that it's force of habit based on a show that does not exist anymore. Early Jean era Simpsons does not exist anymore. Early HD era was 15 years ago. But people throw the hate at that those eras deserved at all the stuff that came after even thought its just a different show
>>153415674>The hate people throw towards the newer stuff feels forced a lot of the timeThe newer stuff is just super formulaic, and the show has been around for so long that they began retreading the plots of previous episodes but with worse writing and stiff animation.
>>153415674>The hate people throw towards the newer stuff feels forced a lot of the timeHonestly I haven't tried watching since like 2003, so I don't know what it's like at all nowadays. It's actually weird now that I think about it, when I hate on zombie Simpsons, I'm talking about stuff from over 20 years ago.
>>153415820>getting your greasy burger fingies all over your laptop Comic Book Guy is a disgrace
>>153416701>Still having what appears to be a PowerBook G4 in the 2020sAn even bigger disgrace IMO
>>153415674>The hate people throw towards the newer stuff feels forced a lot of the timeNo, that was well deserved.I'll give the Disney era credit for pulling the Simpsons out of the dark age...the long and short of it is I'm waiting for a genuine banger of an episode.
>>153415558One of the modern HD that I liked a lot was the Rome episode of Bartigola. And I like every episode with adult simpsons of the HD the rest is just boring, gay or with nothing burger plots. But the episode that are like a narrative I like it IDK why but I feel like simpson now are better at doing parodies of movies or old history than doing their own thing. Even when I was a kid I loved the episodes like Joan of Arc or Homer Odyssy
>>153415558Take me back...
>>153419362
A few good from the HD era I can think of without looking them up,>500 Keys>The Book Job>Eternal Moonshine of the Simpson Mind>Holidays of Future Passed>That Halloween episode that isn't a Treehouse of Horror>A Serious Flanders>Homer's Journey Through the Windshield Glass>Funeral for a Fiend>The Debarted>The Bob Next Door
>>153419644>>Eternal Moonshine of the Simpson MindSeason 19, HD era is mid Season 20>That Halloween episode that isn't a Treehouse of HorrorHalloween of Horror
>>153419592Marge > Francine > Donna > Linda > Lois
>>153419688Moonshine really feels like an HD era episode, but you're right.
>>153415558its fine its just not special anymore
>>153415558I don't know if it was a marathon but a bunch of newer episodes were shown when I was at my dad's house. They were very quiet and bland. I wouldn't say they were horrible but it felt sterile and the lack of music for scene transitions was weird. Maybe I'll find a new episode I like if I ever get around to watching more randomly.
>>153420598you could arguably lump season 19 into the HD era and just call it the "post movie" era and that could work>>153420277This is hard to argue with though one could make the case that Linda is in any spot except last
Its all shits, feels like there was no real creativity behind any of the writing, it all comes off as something so inorganic and forced.
