Shame Morbi is a dumb lazy fucking faggot
>>
>>153415701
The phase of web comics a while ago where a couple relatively popular ones turned their comics into single panel pages accompanied with paragraphs of text on a blank white background was stupid as fuck. I assume they were trying to rip off Homestuck without the lengthy flash cartoons and multiple weekly uploads.
>>
>>153415759
Nah Morbi is just a lazy faggot who didn’t want to draw that’s why when he realized it was more work to write a story he gave that up
>>
>>153415812
Then why did it also happen to Paranatural around the same time? I haven't read that since the change, I wouldn't be surprised if the comic died.

She's right here, dude.

It's why, if and when I ever make my comic, I'm getting a whole bunch of it done at once and just releasing it in seasons of chapters weekly. I don't want to be someone remembered as 'made a comic but got tired of making it on a weekly schedule', especially since I don't have that kind of time anyway working my day job.

Hand injury and also being lazy. Quality was consistently dropping and he never recovered. No surprise he went the route to draw as less as possible.

Didn't she end up moving to /trash/?

The artist draws inflation? I could see it with that style.

Hot take: It was never good. Everyone sat around watiting for the part where it becomes good and it never happenedl

Literally the only reason people "read" Poppy was because of that background giraffe woman
>>

That's hindsight talking, at the time in the very beginning it had a great setup, and then the story was progressing pretty well with the tournament and then the author went crazy move to Seattle I think it was and had no money and was sucking dicks for nickels. That's when everything started going downhill that's when the giant wall of text started appearing and the story just sort of fizzled out.
>>
>>153418750
I thought it was good up to a point, despite how much of a massive faggot Morbi turned into he's still undeniably good at art. Poppy also had bits of interesting world building at first but there came a point where he let the world building autism overtake the narrative which led to it going down the shitter.

>>153419179
I don't think Morbi ever had to worry about money, he's a trust fund baby.

Fuck morbi.

Everytime this asshole comes up with a brilliant premise, cute girls, and some fun stories he pisses it all away to be a layabout pile of shit nintendrone. Nuke california.

I thought the premise was great. I enjoyed reading and asking questions about the comic's lore back in the Tumblr days, but I dunno, at some point some chapters after that boar dude arc (more or less at the early mid of the comic) the whole thing started to become sort of weird, for the lack of a better term. I really can't put my finger on what the problem was exactly, but it felt like it lost its direction and initial charm.

Poppy, from the now-abandoned 'Poppy o Possum' webcomic. She was a buff opossum lady that lived in a magical world of anthro creatures. Had magic and anime-style fights and a curious lore and shit.

Like I said, I think the main issue was that Morbi stopped caring about the main plot and focused more on showing off the DEEP LORE he made for Poppy which is why the initial premise of a single mom with health issues looking to raise her daughter in a new town sorta just disappeared. I like lore and world building as much as the next dude but without any solid central plot to glue it all together it just ends up meandering. Unless you're really good at character writing (which Morbi isn't), bouncing around character perspectives and letting your central cast fall to the wayside comes across as lacking direction. Morbi admitted that the whole setting spawned from an idea he had for a fighting game and it really shows in the writing.

>whole thing started to become sort of weird
it's like reading a fetish webcomic you don't have the fetish of but feel like something is off
>>
>>153420796
Yeah, that sounds about right, good assessment.
I do like to read about lore too (when it's good of course), but I don't think it is a good idea to put it first before the initial premise and the characters and their struggles.

More than the setting, we the audience tend to relate to the characters, specially poppy, since she's the MC. So I feel like you can't lose too much focus on that.

>the whole thing started to become sort of weird, for the lack of a better term

What made Poppy work was the simple set up. Loving single mom is looking for someome she can entrust her daughter to as her time draws near. Once we get into Boris and the ever growing web of corruption everything that made the comic pleasant is tossed out in favor of shonen action and yuribait. Morbi is such a useless degenerate the only way he could retain interest in poppy is by making her into weeb smut.

>shonen action

Putting this idea with the wholesomeness of the initial plot would have worked if it was done properly.

It jumped the shark when Poppy and the Queen's lesbian relationship became official.

Exactly, emphasis on "could have". Too bad morbi is a horny retard and he had to shit the bed. I cant wait for shallowskin to meet the same fate.

We should have expected nothing less of a californian furfag

I remember reading this comic but I never got read anything since then. Now that i checked and skimmed through all the chapters, almost everything in the story feels like excess and the addition of the lesbian character was really jarring.

This comic couldve had its lore but it shouldve never stole the spotlight for its main hook of the comic. No one who picked this comic up cared for the lore.
