We all collectively agree charcoal tastes better right? There's no one that actually prefers Hank's silly propane.
>>153422067Hank is an emotionally stunted idiot with daddy issues. He thus worships a man who would throw him under the bus to save his own hide, and his company, out of that misplaced sense of loyalty
>>153422067The correct answer is "it doesn't fucking matter. Heat is heat."
>>153422142That is some well-done bait there, anon.
>>153422167You can cook a steak on an electric stove top.
>>153422179Could cook it in a microwave too, it's all the same.
>>153422067TASTE THE MEAT, NOT THE HEAT.
I hate char on meat. I don't understand why anyone likes it.
Can someone explain steak autism that seems to have most of US in its grip.
>>153422312cow meat taste good
>>153422276Personally I love my meat a little burnt. Same way I love my King of the Hill women with big feet Propane burgers would just end up tasting like propane to me, yuck. I'd much rather have some burnt char/wood mixed in
>>153422312It's all about medium rare and being the only "right" way to cook a steak. Most of the time it's ironic/just giving friends shit but there really are some faggots who sperg about it.
>>153422508>tasting like propaneLiterally how? I have never tasted propane after cooking with it. I could only what it tastes like. Something like the smell? Are you sure you don't have residual propane floating in the air an are smelling that while you eat?
>>153423311*I could only guess what it tastes like.Just woke up. Forgive typos.
>>153422312The only autism I have about cooking steak is that it's not fucking well done, because that objectively destroys the flavor by drying it out and making it tough. Beyond that, as long as it's seasoned well I couldn't care less if it was charcoal or propane.
>>153422312You know how cultures often have varying superstitions of what you can learn about a person partakes in certain cultural rituals? For Americans, that's gonna be the outdoor grill.Put sauce on your steak? You ruined a perfectly good steak because it wasn't good enough for you. Well done? Can't handle the juices, you prim and proper pussy. It's also a big reason why Budlight was never fully able to recover while companies like Gilette were. Regardless of your political stance, just having Budlight out feels like you've made a stance when you didn't want to. The outdoor grilling party, to Americans, is basically the cultural ritual of the working class. Someone getting their steak well-done, indicating uptightness or snootiness, pushes them to mockery

>>153423995
Taste the meat, not the heat.Different applications, I actually prefer propane because it's super easy to work with and you can get that smokey flavor just by adding woodchips. No trouble starting it up and a ton of flavor is just from the meat and fat dripping on the flames and bringing up smoke.

>>153422094Hank’s knowledge of all of the chemistry of propane gas and how it interacts with other matter combined with his rigid by-the-books adherence to procedure would honestly make him a really good chemist. He could even be a mechanic or do really anything involving machinery and displays a lot of mechanical aptitude throughout the show. He’s talented enough to where there are a multitude of things he could do instead of Strictland, but he never considers it because he’s not very open, and suffers the most from lacking drive and initiative.
>>153422312It's ego. Machismo. People pretend they are super cool because they eat their food in a specific way.>>153423364No, see, retard, some people like it better like that. Some people have different tastes than you. They might not want any seasoning, they might want it tougher, they might want to drink a bunch of ketchup alongside their meal. Doesn't matter at all. They can do whatever they want. If they want to eat chalk they can do that. It's not destroying the meal, it's what they want to do. And also I fucked your mother.

I personally like my stake a bit more on the well done side but I have friends who like their meat as raw as it can be and we all understand that finding food good is entirely a subjective property and harmless so long as the food is not itself dangerous.

>>153423397>Someone getting their steak well-done, indicating uptightness or snootiness, pushes them to mockeryIt has more to do with how cooking a steak well-done is just pointless. You are literally ruining the meat. The only reason it's a "thing" with some people is that people used to be way more anal-retentive about food safety than they are now as a matter of habit. The sauce thing is 100% real though. >>153422067propane is viewed as the practical standard. for daily cooking and casual hamburgers and hotdogs. nobody would ever judge someone for using it but they'd never be excited either. charcoal is seen a fun treat, if you went to a grill out with an old fashioned weber dome people would make positive noises about having charcoal for once. hank having a vocal negative opinion of charcoal would be uncommon and seen as kind of weird.
>>153427781I would only judge someone for eating well done steak if they were bragging about getting high end grade meat or were a steak house regular.
I spoke to some family about it and the consensus was that charcoal tends to cook the meat unevenly and it leaves behind a charcoaly taste, which is not bad and not good for your health. It also takes longer to prep. It’s also more expensive. However propane has the problem of every grill having so many openings that if you don’t clean it with soap and water after every use, it will attract mice and bugs which shit all over your BBQ. Ultimately though, the presence was propane. Hank was right all along.

Propane offers exact control of your heat, and holds to the idea of food tasting like itself; delicate flesh like seafood is something that would benefit from said control and clean heat. Charcoal, however, does indeed impart a flavor of its own that many prefer, same with various woods that can be tossed into a smoker to flavor meat as well. I happen to like applewood, and the few times I've tried peat barbecue at Irish cultural festivals.

A lot of pointless wars and stupid societal experiments would have been avoided. All I'm saying...

But when you cook with charcoal you have to have the patience and skill to get it going, then the low flame cooks the meat more evenly because you cant turn up the heat arbitrarily like with propane, which also means that you need to actually watch the meat cook and turn it over more than once which results in more even heating.

It may not be written down, but it's there as a rule, and everyone can feel it. There are certainly nations where you can go and live freer than an American.

>>153432780>Time?Ten minutes on each side.>Temp?200-350 depending on how you like your steak.>Any particular preparation?I just slap some Montreal steak seasoning on it but I'd recommend you just use whatever steak seasoning you normally use. And I tenderize both sides with a meat mallet, if you don't do that then I highly recommend it because there is a world of difference between a tenderized and non-tenderized steak. If I'm cooking on a grill or skillet I'll add some mushrooms, onions and butter but trying that in the air fryer has been disappointing so I wouldn't recommend it.I rarely marinate my steaks because I don't really want to do the extra work for a slight increase in taste. I rarely use sauce because I'll season my steaks enough that they don't need it, also if your steaks are so dry they need sauce then you did something wrong and need to eat them as is to punish yourself so you don't do it again.

There is no reason someone should restrict a person's right to use a weapon that can be used to protect them from others attempting to do harm to them. >>153436176It's a wishy washy argument. A cigarette in and of itself isn't dangerous, but smoking one around a child potentially is. Whose freedom takes priority? The freedom of the individual to smoke, or the freedom of everyone else to not be harmed by cigarettes?
So, if I've got this straight, America has the most freedom in all of the world, but only if it's the specific kind of freedom Americans believe in, where you can own a gun, but you can't drink beer until you're 21. Where you can call someone a "jaggoff" but you can't talk about particular groups because the ADL will ruin your life, and where you absolutely must follow traffic codes or armed police are liable to beat you senseless?
>>153437905>(And Saturday)
>>153438079Just cut the bullshit and tell us which nation you live in. I can't imagine what sad place it must be if you obsess over America this badly. I get the feeling its somewhere in Asia because even the Latinos desperately want to get in and no Euro/Cannuck is this fucking retarded.
>>153438138This is about you, not me
corporations are also allowed to flat out feed you poison in America.
>>153438165>Insults someone>Gets called out>This is about you not meI wanna guess Israel because you're sure acting like a Jew. But the Israel posters are busy on /pol/
>>153438367The conversation is about America. Stop deflecting.
>>153438079>but you can't talk about particular groups because the ADL will ruin your lifeOh, you're retarded. You should have just led with that instead of wasting everyone's time. (Not to mention that whatever mud-caked shithole you spawned in almost certainly has actual laws to punish you for "hate speech.")
>>153438492This is about you, not me
>>153438400Only because you won't stop bitching about them you fucking loser.
>>153438571NTA but where are you from? Is it a nation that you think has more freedom or less freedom than America? What is it about America that makes it a greater concern than your homeland? Surely there must be a reason. Is your nation one that is constantly at the behest of America's foriegn policy or is one that is inconsequential to it's doings?
>>153438738this is a conversation about America. I want you to focus on America. Not on the North Pole.
>>153432105He owned them; did he RUN them? He didn't run the propane or BBQ businesses.>Hank is too skilled at a bunch of random trades and hobbies to be described as lacking ambitionHe's not LAZY, he likes doing things, but when it comes to the overall state of his life he lets it lie. To be fair, he doesn't seem to be lacking anything it's within his power to obtain. It doesn't seem like he particularly wants to be richer or anything.

>>153422067Unironically burgers taste better cooked in a frying pan nine times out of ten anyways. BBQs are fun because it takes cooking outdoors but BBQ culture is 100% from insecure boomers shy about liking cooking >IT'S NOT COOKING IT'S BARBECUING
>>153439067Even with guys like Hank running stuff at the individual locations Buck would still be working and taking care of shit that kept everything running. To be fair, he doesn't seem to be lacking anything it's within his power to obtain. It doesn't seem like he particularly wants to be richer or anythingThere's nothing wrong with this. Hank legitimately has a 10/10 life a lot of people would kill for
I forgot I made this thread, can I get a TLDR this is too much to read.
>>153439483some fag was butthurt about America
>>153439483>Charcoal vs propane is more of a mood thing rather than a hard-line preference for most people >America makes third worlders and Euros seethe
Actual landowner here. Propane is great. It's still cheap as fuck compared to petroleum, coal or electricity. It's better for absolutely everything. When the heat pump can't do its job, propane delivers clean no maintenance heat FAST. What powers my ranch in an outage? Propane. What do I use to fuel my hot tub? Propane. Clear the fenceline? Propane. Time to grill? Propane. You can put charcoal in your grill and still use propane if you want that charcoal taste. The fire just goes around the blocks.
>>153439763Not sure what being a landowner had to do with the taste of food but sure.
>>153439797Absolutely everything. That's why you are on /co/ not /ck/.
>>153439858/ck/ is the only other board I visit.
>>153433761Do Americans do steak tastings? Do they bring fancy steak cuts to potlucks instead of cheeses? Can I sample a cut before ordering a full steak? Can I go to a restaurant and order a flight of ribeyes?

>>153439763>not cooking your steak with nuclearThe Americium-241 sample in a standard ionization smoke alarm is 1 uCi (microcurie), about 37,000 decays per second, each an alpha particle with an energy of about 5.48 MeV, or about 32.5 nW. Optimal power for grilling a steak is about 1.5 kW, so all you need is about 46,000 Ci of Americium-241 (about 14% of the world's entire synthesized supply) to create a radioisotope thermoelectric grill or RTG.That's cooking your steak the way God intended... through clean-burning nuclear decay.
Love me some /cock/
>>153424213What a soiboy take, no wonder your gf cheats on you
>>153442128That's one STRONG cooler if it can handle all of Joe Jack...
I cook my steaks in a George Foreman grill. Brush a little bit of smoked beef tallow that I've rendered from brisket trimmings onto the grates and cook and sear the steak for about a minute or two, flip, then cook for another minute. Depending on the thickness and time, you can get pretty good medium/med-rare with decent crust and pretty grill marks. Since it cooks on both sides at the same time, it will take less than 5 minutes to cook.
>>153443725>Novelty grill
i rather kerosene
>>153445110no you don't
>>153439763Damn Hank, you must REALLY be after that bonus if you're advertising propane on 4CHAN This is all very insightful though, thankyou
>>153433787>country A is le best>country B is le bestAt least one of these statements has to be wrong.
>>153422067>We all collectively agree charcoal tastes better right?Charcoal has its own taste. Just as mesquite does. I wouldn't want to exclusively cook with either for that reason, because each one doesn't go with EVERYTHING.Sometimes I prefer not having that flavor on things. Sometimes all I want it smoke/wood flavor which is best done with a smoker.
>>153447225No. You are just a globalist fag
>>153447488Ok.
>>153447225Both statements are wrong because "best" is a subjective measurement.
