he is liked in every comic community besides /co/ what does that indicate?
>>
>>153423432
>/co/ is completely anonymous and thus much more honest because users don't have to worry about getting dox'd. So it can be much more critical of things like Miles Morales or Riri Williams without the worry of blowback from social media warriors
>/co/ has a bad habit of being really contrarian. If the general audience, or 'normies' like something /co/ tends to hate it. It could be gold on a silver platter drizzled with Jesus's semen and /co/ would still call it shit on a canvas

Th other communities are wrong. /co/ is right, at times for the wrong reasons.
Those other communities praise Alex Maleev's art on their Daredevil run, but it looks like this.
>>
>>153424345
What the fuck am I looking at? Where's Daredevil's face in the last panel? And why does that guy in the third panel look like he's one oxygen tent away from getting sexual powers?

What other community? Reddit? Sites that are so up the ass of the publishers that they fear any kind of criticisms. You move.
>>
I don’t think that’s true. I’ve seen a lot of people dissing Bendis on instagram, at least.

twitter
Comic twitter zoomers will admit Riri is hard character to like, that Cosmic Marvel got botched hard, that Civil War 2 was a disaster and left a scar on Carol's character (and helped derail Kamala), that aging up Jon Kent left him washed as they'd say, etc but they will STILL defend Bendis
Ultimate Spider-Man still being a popular entry level suggestion that's easy to get into might be a reason

So it sounds like they’re not so much defending him as much as saying “he’s written a lot of bad but has also written some good”.
>>
>>153426656
Yeah pretty much
People get defensive over Miles Morales
Like I know people hate him and make racist jokes and /co/ has a frothing hate boner that's kind of eye rolling but holy shit Miles is a sacred cow to them (and they still go as far as to say Bendis wasn't his best writer)
>>
>>153426299
I know Tom King and Deniz Camp get lots of love on Reddit.

Knowing the industry presence here, this imbecile will be writing something high profile soon.
>>
>>153428142
True, but it manages to be more honest than all those other places. You can mostly get away with bullshitting here, but you can also get away with telling the truth.
>>
>>153428342
The Bendis forum banned me for reposting one of his avengers pages with all the thought balloons removed just to make the point the art and dialogue already said the same things
He can die of cancer as far as I'm concerned

>>
>>153428420
why does that exist
>The Bendis Board, also known as the Jinxworld forums, was a prominent comic book community founded by writer Brian Michael Bendis
>The forum officially closed in September 2014
good
>>
>>153423432
No, the normie position is that he used to be peak (USM, New Avengers, Daredevil, Alias) and then at some point fell off (Superman, GOTG, X-Men). Almost everybody thinks he fell off.
It's only /co/ that hates his early stuff.
>>
>>153428939
>It's only /co/ that hates his early stuff.
Because it's bad.
>>
>>153428615
>>153428786
He used to have a forum. Gail Simone and EVS used to have their own forums on there
>>
>>153428097
Reddit just wants to post single out of context pages that show how much they GET characters
>>
>>153429248
Do they seriously do this?
>>
>>153428939
His only early work that's even remotely worth defending in USM, and even then that has some bad shit in it too
>>
>>153430563
Reddit, and also TikTok
>>
>>153430581
Harsh..
>>
>>153428939
His X-Men really has a following though, a hell of a lot of X-fags have somehow internalized Bendis' take on the book as being how things always were, and Cyclops' team constantly squaring off against SHIELD and the Avengers really played well with those fans, God help them. He did X-Men for the Occupy Generation and some people ate it up.
>>
>>153431692
I'm almost convinced that's just people working at Marvel trying to make it look like it has a following because that seems to be what the Brevoort era wants to steer back towards
>>
>>153423432
>he is liked in every comic community besides /co/ what does that indicate?
>>
>>153428969

You can tell just from the thumbnail when someone posts a bendy book.
>>
No one talks about comics except here, reddit and clickbait "comic" sites.
Trust me, I've looked for alternatives.
>>
>>153428969
don't comics have editors and other people to look over the work? how does this get past them
>>
>>153433008
Is an style is not egregious per se, the proportions are right and you can tell what the characters are doing, seen worst

he is liked in every comic community besides /co/ what does that indicate?
>>
>>153433167
that is /co/ being contrarian for the sake of it. waid is genuinely talented.
>>
>>153433008
Lol
Lmao

>>153428208
Weren't they getting him to fag up ASM#1000 or whatever?
>>
>>153423432
Bendis has openly talked about how fans would send him letters specifically begging him to not touch certain characters and leave them alone because he would mischaracterize them and fuck them over.
He took it to heart and end up doing just that anyway.

>>153424345
lol did he really just open up poser and throw a filter over everything?
>>
>>153432067
I think it's more like Brevoort went back to that era because it does have a passionate following (just look at all the 'Rightclops' assholes that never went away), and there are writers who want to do that era again, while there are a lot of loud people constantly screaming against the very idea of ever making X-Men go back to the way things were in the 80s or 90s when they were popular and their books sold.
>>
>>153428939
His stuff is only ever "peak" on paper, the execution is usually fucking awful
>>
>>153433167
He's not as bad as Bendis, but he is quintessentially fluff. His comics do nothing for me.
>>
>>153430563
They think up in the sky is a good superman story
>>
>>153433167
Maybe no one over there took the first step to point how he wrote Dr. Doom, or no one just plain said "Speed Force? Really?!"
>>
>>153434741
Yikes
>>
/co/ is just antisemitc, it's why they hate tom king
>>
>>153433809
>I think it's more like Brevoort went back to that era because it does have a passionate following (just look at all the 'Rightclops' assholes that never went away)

I'm still getting more convinced that the Righclops people are shills for Marvel. There's something inorganic about it, the same way as people claim "There are no bad Daredevil runs"

You can see why though. You take a random panel from that book and it has a FUCK YEAH vibe to it so long as you don't put any thought into the connective bits.
>>
>>153423432
It tells us that most other comic communities are overrun with retards who will gladly gobble up terrible slop without a second thought and never consider if they should stop.
>>
>>153433167
I actually like a lot of Waid's stuff. He may be a goofy lolcow as a person, but I like the writer. His Wally run is one of my favorite comics.
>>
>>153436700
The problem with communities, of any kind, is that they started existing for the sake of the community not the hobby. This shit hole here works largely because of anonymity and even we kind of still have a collective bias but now imagine how that would work in a place where faggots have names and the big lead posters run roughshod.
>>
>>153426736
>People get defensive over Miles Morales
What's always amusing is that people who don't like Miles will post content of Miles to show they aren't making shit up.
People who defend Miles have no material and just say 'you are racist!'. As if that matters.
>>
>>153433372
I'm curious which characters he was asked not to rape
