So I know Kirkman said she was white in the comic and her being Korean in the show was a change but that people here claim that's bullshit and say she was always asian. To be perfectly honest, I legitimately can't tell what race Debbie was meant to be in the comic. In the show her design is far less ambiguous and I suppose Ottley eventually drew her as looking more white compared to explicitly asian character. But Mark pretty much looks the same in the show as he did in the comic, not to mention that the young Nolan from the flashbacks looks like a slightly beefier Mark, and Debbie as drawn by Walker and Ottley initially didn't look much more white than explicitly asian characters like Kate. So I can't really tell what the intention was just from reading the comic.I assume Kirkman really did write her as a white chick and that both the artists did indeed intend for her to look like one, because I don't get why he would lie about it. If you told me dude with straight black hair and black eyes from a comic book that initially had a minimalist style was always meant to have an asian mom, who in turns looks pretty similar, I wouldn't doubt you.
I think despite being named Invincible, the show's main characters are Mark, Nolan, and Debbie and for that reason I don't see the two hooking back up too soon since where else could Debbie's character go for the remaining seasons?
>>153426307AU Debbie
>>153426374God damnit, seriously, just read ahead. The show has already lasted four seasons has literally followed the plot to the halfway point, the biggest deviation so far are two filler plotlines about Hell and some sexist Pharaoh, that's it. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of changes and there are very few moments that get close to being a 1:1 adaptation of the page, but the story is basically the same and there has yet to be anything that goes in a completely different direction, the show just isn't going to start doing its own thing. You wanna know what happens with Debbie and Nolan?Debbie permanently moves back in with Nolan in space, where he is discovered to be the true heir to the Viltrumite throne and exiles Thragg so that he can reshape them into a better people. Thragg eventually kills Nolan in an attempt to take back control but is then killed by Mark. When Mark is crowned the new Emperor, he permanently leaves earth with all the Viltrumite-Human hybrid children because Robot told him it was the best course of action. Debbie moves back to earth where raises her grandson rape baby to be the new Invincible. There, I just told what will happen in the show because it's what happened in the comic, and the show will do that because the story of the show is basically just the story of the comic with different details.
>>153426713Yeah, I know thatI just meant Debbie's character itself stops when she and Nolan hook back up and I can't see the show do that because of the emphasis the show has with Debbie as a characterI'm not saying comic Debbie was a bad character, I'm saying the show clearly sees her more of a driving presence than the comic did
>>153426307She looks asian in the comics
She doesn't even look human in most panels
