With how little actually gets done at Cubetown and how few breakthroughs they have it's basically coddling crazy scientists in hopes that they accidentally discover something world shattering. That can't happen though, since this is QC and not Alice Grove or whatever Hack's other comic was. Look at how AI reached "singularity" in this comic. It was announced on one page and then suddenly a bunch of the robots had sexy bodies, wore athleisure wear, and occupied human apartments on their own (which probably keeps rent process stupid high). This is something that should have up-ended society, but was barely mentioned and is just kinda forgotten since the robots/AI just kinda blend into the background of the comic now.
