I was just watching the first 3 episodes of W.I.T.C.H. and my goodness, I'm genuinely amazed by this series. I honestly find this series more mature than something like say, Tokyo Mew Mew or Winx Club or Precure. Even though W.I.T.C.H. is also aimed at kids, it doesn't feel as "childish" as those three can feel a lot of times. It has this dark medieval fantasy kind of vibe that kicks ass.

I find it odd that most girl shows tend to feel childish when there's girls series like Fruits Basket and As Told By Ginger that do feel mature for ones aimed at young girls.
>>153431569In fact, I just want to say this. Jetix was fucking radical. I was watching some Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go! and despite its goofy title and silly looking designs, it got quite dark at times and had a mature feel to it in several episodes, while also having its comical and zany episodes. The first episode alone was pretty serious in some cases. Super Robot Monkey Team and W.I.T.C.H. unironically felt less childish than shows like Winx Club and Tokyo Mew Mew. I watched all of Tokyo Mew Mew and I was waiting for it to get dark and it could be dark, but I was expecting it to be a lot darker than it was. I get that Tokyo Mew Mew is a kids show, but Monkey Team and W.I.T.C.H. are also kids shows and they blew me away with how mature and dark they could be. Gargoyles, X-Men, Batman: The Animated Series, there's a lot of kids shows that prove that they can be mature and have gripping storylines.
