People who kinda sorta remember classic adventure movies like FantasticVoyage or Journey to the Center of the Earth.Still better than Lightyear.
>>153432269That's not a achievement
>>153432269The problem is it’s a pulp adventure that removes any sense of peril in its opening. It also tells the audience it thinks they’re too stupid to understand subtext in the opening. An odd choice since like all modern Disney movies the real villain is intergenerational trauma. However, since it already mocked subtext it’s robbed that plot point of emotional stakes. All because they felt to the need to have some random asshole say “they’re actually arguing about something other than what they’re arguing about” as a joke. Raya also had a terrible opening. “I know what you’re thinking: another girl riding across a devastated landscape.” Is it really too much to have a movie take itself seriously?
>>153432276No but it is probably the reason the movie did so poor. They crammed like 5 movies out in one year, and Lightyear was so shit people were burntout to the point this one got nobody in theaters. Its still a crap movie but between the two I would rather have Lightyear been the career ending bad boxoffice one.
>>153432269So a pulp story that doesn't even have the elements of a pulp story? Where's the hot damsel?Where's the chiseled hero?Where are the perilous fights?Where's the death?
>>153432458You're getting the gay love interest and you're gonna love it!
>>153432458Those are all boomer/genx/millenial tropes. This movie was made for zoomers and gen alpha.
>>153432660Well Gen Alpha also clearly didn’t like it, so maybe those tropes an’t so bad.

>>153432151this shit was incredibly poorly written to the point of incompetenceevery dialogue was unnatural and awkward, the story progression was clunky, the whole vibe of the way the film was structured is like someone trying to fit scattered narrative blocks togetherthis is something that's very indicative of a thousand of rewrites by a team of disposable interns that are never credited for anything
>>153432345Huh. I don't feel as bad for having not seen either of these movies still. Strange World especially seems to have failed at building any kind of a following...
>>153432345>An odd choice since like all modern Disney movies the real villain is intergenerational trauma. And for this movie, it's especially egregious, like come one, the one time a corrupt CEO type person wanting to keep harvesting the actual living continent their on would have been perfect.
>>153434641What's funny is that Raya is considered apart of the Disney Princess line, yet she's got little to no merch with the other girls.
>>153434835Sad!
>>153432345Have you tried removing the stick out of your ass? Never take yourself too seriously and maybe you'll start making some friends.
>>153432151I haven't seen it but does that kid EVER stop with that dopey grin?
>>153435797NTA but holy projection
I saw this movie, and I say it aggressively, did nothing new. It's the sort of thing where everything unique about it is executed so blandly that all you can think about is you've seen a better version of this same story.
>>153435683cute dragoness
>>153435683Sisu deserved such a better movie to be attached to
>Chad white grandpa>Soi white dad>Gay black son>Genetic line dead

>>153440151Her design loses points to me because of the face being too generic Disney cg (people joked she looked like Elsa), and too much fur which we know was a cowardly choice as they did not believe her being properly scaly would appeal to normalfags.
>>153432345It really should been animated to look like one of those old pulp adventure comics instead of the usual Grubhub stuff.
>>153432151This this and the panda movie and there was one other I forget or all about the same timeline. That were like very overpriced made for TV movies. Like I never got it they weren't bad but they were certainly not big screen the animation wasn't that good, it was very on time it ended with an encanto and that was like the beginning of getting back into it but for a while there Disney made along with Pixar a set of movies that were just bad and I still can't understand the budget like millions and hundreds of millions for what looked like be level movies
>>153432151Deviants and trannies.
>>153438943In the scene where Ethan and grandpa were talking, Ethan mentioned the guy he likes. I dunno if was decades of me watching TV shows where the gay kid gets a beat down from Dad or whatever, but for a split second I was seriously expecting Jaeger to go full AW HELL NAW NO GRANDSON O' MINE IS GONNA BE SUCKIN' COCK and I felt kinda off when the old man was cool about it.
>>153440404You're only saying that because you watched them on a shitty monitor
>>153432151It was for me specifically. I requested it.
>>153434802But that would require making a woman the villain and that’s not allowed anymore, like with Wish. Disney only allows it when it’s part of the source material (Snow White, Tangled, Little Mermaid).
>>153442193Request a better movie next time

>>153438844>a world were dragons are the dominate species>used to be friends with humans, until one day they all dissapeared>Sisu is exploring the jungle, finds a human>a bond grows from thereShit I'd watch that.
