>Miracleman is coming to the Marvelverse!>*crickets*What went wrong?
>>153436476Angela
>>153436476They already had Sentry.
>>153436476Nobody really cares for him.
>>153436476Because it all was just to promote the Silver Age from finally getting published and he didn't visit the 616 at all in the end?
>>153436508I care about him, but I don't want him in the Marvel universe.
>>153436476Gaiman got BTFO. Marvel got cheap as fuck over the past couple years and Hickman is no longer a hit maker. Gillen and Ewing both received offers but Gillen wasn't interested and Ewing wanted to make him gay and was turned down.
>>153436476Gaiman got busted so it killed all hype and got swept under a rug.
>>153436528I could see why Gillian would be uninterested since he already did Peter Cannon Thunderbolt, which is a pretty meta book
>>153436955Maybe he didn't want to take on a Moore book directly.
They unironically waited too long. The Gen Xers hyping him up this whole time are dealing with getting old and the hype torch was never properly passed. And without proper context, there's nothing apparently interesting about Miracle Man on the surface level. When the first thing you tell a young reader, when they ask who he is, and you say "well, he's kind of like a deconstruction of Captai- I mean, Shazam..." They instantly turn out.
Ironically the best way to salvage Miracleman would be to straight purge the Moore/Gaimsn version as a bad Mojoverse movie and revert back to the light hearted silly as fuck 50s version who basically is a Captain Marvel rip off. Its way more unique and you can do more interesting crossovers with it via Marvel reacting to its saccrine nature
>>153436983That too
>>153438590>superheroes take over the world>they try to create a 'paradise' for everyone>people can become almost anything they want to be, even get super powersI like Moore/Gaiman's setting ideabut the actual story does a poor job of showing it
>>153436476They waited too long, plain and simple. Worse yet? There's nothing interesting to do with him. It's specifically the fucked up Moore reinvention that they want to use. His story's already been told. What do we as an audience even have to gain from seeing him join the Marvel pantheon? The character really would have been better off in Todd Mcfarlane's hands. Also Marvel already had their own Shazam expy in Omega the Unknown. I rather see them do more with him. Instead, just like they did with Sentry and Hyperion, they doubled up. Now we have a second faux-Shazam. Great.
>>153438590This. Especially if they want to merchandise him, which knowing marvel, they would. Hell I'd read a whole series stitching golden age Marvelman into the golden and silver age marvel canon.
