What went wrong? It's much worse than the previous animation films produced by the Spielberg/Kathleen Kennedy/Frank Marshall trio (An American Tail, Roger Rabbit, The Land Before Time, Fievel Goes West)
At least they produced Balto afterwards. It was an improvement
>>153436850Is the word "writing" too scary for you to type?
>voiced by Lisa Simpson
>>153436850Too many cooks in the kitchen, it had some major edits after animation was completed to make it less scary, which also made John Malkovich quit the film (he was the original voice for Professor Screweyes). It's extremely rare for completed animation to get cut, since usually issues with story, pacing or sequences is figured out in the storyboard and rough animation stages before ink and paint, because cutting finished animation is like flushing money and time down the toilet.https://youtu.be/LCzHlm9Wr3A?si=AJB2BGiPqvmJvE94
>>153438055That's a great piece of villain backstory, but the movie needed either more or less rewrites. The story is all over the place. And the way the kid convinces his dino friend to not be hungry for human flesh is retarded.>lol just be good I know in your heart you want toWhat a bunch of nonsense.
>>153438483That's not the only sequence cut, there was more. The film as it currently exists is at a barely feature-length 71 minutes, and it was planned to be 90 minutes. There's almost 20 minutes of footage cut from the final film.
>>153436850Jurassic Park existed, Spielberg didn't need to make another one of these so soon.>>153437913Weird how this is her only other major voice role. I would have expected her to have at least like 2 or 3 more besides her and Lisa the Simp.
>>153438548Yes, and I'm sure all that deleted material is okay to great. But the way the dinosaurs got de-hypnotized has to be rewritten from scratch.
>>153439024It's no different than Hogarth getting through to the Iron Giant after he defaulted to his war machine programming.https://youtu.be/MAK5iYIApYc?si=TGNHeVuHc3LETdaZ
>>153439289Not at all identical. Metal Superman was not brainwashed by a powerful magician, he was in a rage. Hogarth repeated to his friend the words he said earlier in the film. Those words got through because Metal Superman already heard them, and remembered that. Also please do not imply Iron Giant and We're Back are on the same level of writing.
>>153436850>>153438787It was clearly meant to be a alternative for young children whose parents felt that Jurassic Park would be too scary for them.
I've heard it described as a "random events plot"
