I'm doing issues 14-15 today as well as what will be relevant portions from the pre-ongoing Gwenpool Special mostly to get past Haynes' art and get to the good stuff quicker. Today, Gwen teams up with Hawkingbird to annoy Robbie Reyes.Previous >>153423869
FWIW I feel this is far and away the weakest story in the series. It's kind of meh given what it's sandwiched between, Haynes on art to make it look cheap and it feels like a single issue story stretched out to two.
Also I really don't give a shit about Kate or Robbie. At least we get some Sarah though.
I'll break for a few minutes and then post the next issue.
Issue 15
One more small break and then I'll post the next bit since it'll be directly relevant to the next story arc.
This is a weak arc, but the worst part is nothing really comes of it. This feels like a stepping stone to getting Cecil back in a human body, but because the series gets cancelled that is one of the many things quickly resolved in the final issue. As it is now it just feels like filler.
A story from the 2016 Gwenpool Special. This would also be the first time she'd be drawn by Gurihiru and would be reprinted, along with the Howard the Duck backups, in Unbelievable Gwenpool #0.
That finishes things up for today. Next time, Gwen goes back to the real world.

>>153439319
>>153439284Also good timing for this since there's a scene in a couple issues referencing it
>>153439464third panel there is what they use for the recap at the start of each issue?
>>153438347Gwen still has next to no self-control, and trouble letting Cecil speak for himself, but at least her heart is in the right place now. I think it's worth noting that while Gwen does dive headfirst into the portal, she doesn't forcibly drag Cecil in after her; he follows in after her on his own.>>153438533I think Kate is the only Marvel character I can recall who's never had any issues with Gwen from the get-go. It probably helps that they're introduced after Gwen's chilled out quite a bit and Kate doesn't have a secret identity to spoil at all, I like how unbothered she is by Gwen's weird explanations.>>153438770The Eli/Cecil stuff is probably my favorite part of this two-parter. It's great for pointing out the elephant in the room, that while MODOK was the one to kill Cecil, it was Gwen who put him in a position to BE killed. It's not inaccurate to say Gwen, while restoring him to unlife, is the cause of a lot of his problems and while equally immoral there would be some karma in taking retribution on her by possessing her body, I like the temptation but I also like Cecil being good enough to turn it down.
>>153439001Thanks for the double storytime OP. I like seeing Gwen's continuing growth in trying to make amends with Cecil and do what she can to make him more comfortable, while still showing she's still impulsive/excitable. Robbie is a cool choice for a crossover, particularly in how Eli interacts with Cecil and I thought Kate/Gwen play well off each other throughout it. I like how its finale comes together in Gwen giving Cecil back what he was really wanting, which was to make his own choices again. Cecil has been doing whatever Gwen wanted to do since he first appeared, even when she's trying to help. It starts with them just looking to give him a means to physically interact with the world again but really what he lacked was agency, it was telling her to let him make his own choice to be put in the beast that Gwen finally did something Cecil wanted to do for once. That said I echo your sentiment this is the weakest segment of Unbelievable. I'm not a huge fan of the dwarves or their lore as villains while I like the theming around it, Cecil's new body is an objective downgrade from his ghost form. Plus while I don't mind Haynes art I think where he falls short especially is action and there's a lot of that here. Ends on yet another great cliffhanger though, I can only imagine the reaction at seeing Teddy's speech bubble be pink as well to first readers.>>153439284Thanks for storytiming this as well, one of Gwen's earliest showings and does well in showcasing a lot of her character off the bat. Fun-loving, eager for comic book fun, impatient and completely ignorant of the real danger she's in but still managing to bullshit her way to victory. She pairs amazingly with Gurihiru, love this segment of #0 for her first showing in this art style and showing the innocent early days of her getting to live out her dream and meet her idols, with a very questionable moral compass at the time.
>>153439407Is it really this easy? I tried looking up how to make bomb and feel like Google just added me to a no flight list
>>153443981the answer is usually "oxidized nitrogen vioelently doesn't like to exist"anhydrous nitrate and nitrite fertilizers are just outright explosive. ammonium nitrate is partifularly explosive. there's also chlorates and perchlorates. even bleach, which is sodium hypochlorite solution, is potentially explosive (it has to be dehydrated, though, and is very unstable when dehydrated).like the barest knowledge of chemistry and building simple pressure vessels (see: sealing two ends of a pipe) are all that is necessary to know to fuck shit up ("shit" usually referring to yourself) with explosives.
>>153443981I imagine in the MU it probably is.
