Second thing is Miles is inserted into Peter's story not exactly as his protege but more like as Spider-Man2 but with more and stronger powers. If Peter would be allowed to ever age and get family and kids (with Felicia) the situation with passing the mantle would hit differently. But Peter is just stuck in some shitty limbo, never progressing anywhere

Peter has two successors already that both fill the different niches (Mayday inherits the mantle and Miguel picks it up after Peter falls). Miles adds literally nothing to this that hasn't been done prior by better writers in more interesting scenarios
