It works for YOLO but all this does is make the current collective artistic output of the entertainment industry look visually unappealing. Smiling Friends was a flash in the pan and these guys blew it. They're either going to fade into mediocrity like this or they're going to be clawing at Adult Swim's doors trying to get Smiling Friends back on the air in the next few years

The thing that's weird to me though is that if Zach was suffering burnout, it does seem like Michael could've let him relax some and took on some extra work, he clearly doesn't mind managing multiple projects at once let alone just working a bit more on one than 50/50. I can imagine Zach caring about the perfect balance of both of their voices being what makes the show what it is, but I think it'd have been fine if he offered input or ideas still. So it does just make me wonder if what they said wasn't true again. That it wasn't burnout but backlash over the outsourcing. People throw around the merger thing but they were already set for 2 seasons and 4 was well into production. Them agreeing to stop because of corporate meddling with the animation and what they could offer made sense to me, the theory people had went into about why they made their own animation studio.
i've been saying cusack is a hack one trick pony since YOLO started. nice to see me vindicated. zach absolutely is the one who wanted smiling friends to end initially and cusack folded instantly like the talentless worm he is.
