Admit it, it's too woke for your tastes

Woke for who? Tourist bots from Youtube grifters?
>>
>>153453364
No, it's great. I wish there were more comics on this level or better.

Here's a similar comic that's actually too woke for most people here.
>>
>>153453364
I like Rorschach, fight me.
>>
>>153453545
Yeah Camp is a whiner

>woke
the one nominally liberal and plausibly gay character is a villain who cooks up a scheme to murder a million innocent people and all the people who helped him pull it off. The most reactionary character is the only character interested in fighting crime, and is the one who is most horrified at what happens, even though the first page of the book is him fantasizing about the very same scenario. The book is a deconstruction of the super hero genre but doesn't have a clear political valence
>>
>>153454345
The story venerates the liberal and kills off the objector in the end. The story promotes collective ignorance for the greater good, which is very much left-wing.
>>
>>153454446
But it ends with someone stumbling across Rorchach's journal that can easily undo Veidt's victory.

>woke
nobody knows what this word even means
also anything in the past that could be declared "woke" can also be declared "chuddy" because human beings weren't as closeminded back then as they are now
for fuck's sake, the undertale guy, who seems like the wokest gamedev ever, is being called mega hitler because of the translation shit

speaking of "woke" comics: martha washington but guess who made it

>The story venerates the liberal
It vilifies him, over and over again. He wears purple and a crown he placed upon himself, for fuck's sake.
>The story promotes collective ignorance for the greater good
The Black Freighter tale, Rorschach's journal, Manhattan's parting words, his fucking NAME tell you this ploy is doomed to fail.
>>
>>153454446
>veidt is venerated
in universe he's venerated, the book itself makes him out to be scheming narcissist. The final shot of Veidt is him looking pensive and scared after Manhattan tells him, "nothing ever ends"
>ignorance is a left wing virtue
lol retard
>>
>>153454945
Moore back then was a libertarian and seemed more empathetic
>>153455324
He’s right about the ignorance thing.
>>
>>153454525
The journal has no actual information on the squid being connected to Ozymandias.
Rorschach never figured that out. When it was mailed, they were still hunting for a cape killer and vaguely had an idea that it might be tied to provoking WWIII
>>
>>153453364
Its not woke enough for my tastes.
>>
>>153453364
>own the actual physical comic book since 2024
>keep putting it and other books off for later
I will read them all eventually
>>
>>153454345
It has a pretty clear political valence in that all of the superheroes, all of which are fascist, reactionary, conservative, or liberal individuals, are portrayed as ineffective and flawed and terrible and ultimately do nothing good. The reactionary being horrified at the realization of his fantasies is intentional obviously, "wow my entire life philosophy and all my fantasies seems pretty evil actually!" If there is an issue it's that there is no alternative. Moore goes on about the evils of the Fascist superhero pretty well but despite being an Anarchist never presents any sort of populist alternative. That masses of the public are still just peons left at the whims of the ubermensch in Watchmen. I wonder if being an anarchist, a hyper individualistic philosophy, has something to do with that.

>the comic most known and worshipped by normalfags and modern day hacks alike is a British boomer’s whining about the U.S. and superheroes being heckin fascist and not muh
Jeez, and we even wonder why the comic book industry is still seen as a joke and treated as such.

For fuck's sake why is everyone so stupid
Veidt's peace will eventually collapse but it is left completely open how that happens or how long that will take. It is not a result of Rorschach's actions (his journal in the crank file is symbolic of the fragility of the peace) but of human nature. Nothing ever ends, Adrian.

What's more important than how long it lasts is how long one thinks it would need to last to be worth it. How many days of peace is worth the price that was paid? How long must our execution be stayed to be worth the lives lost? A year? A decade? A century?

Stop engaging with Watchmen like it's trying to dictate morals to you instead of asking you questions.

>What if... they repealed term limits and Nixon was still president!!!
The very premise of the setting is the most stereotypical boomer liberal dystopia you could imagine. That entire generation's political expression boils down to pissing their pants about bad ol' Tricky Dick.
