>about 50% of the show is them harassing Ringo
What did they mean by this?
>>
Ringo's a retard.
>>
I love how they acknowledged the band changed their looks later on and yet the cartoon versions stayed the exact same, lol.
>>
They were jealous Ringo had the most influence on his instrument out of all the Beatles. Rock drumming innovations that exist because of Ringo: playing with matched grip, down-tuning the snares, drumming behind the beat. The drums as played in rock music would not be the same if not for Ringo. Paul had nowhere near that level of influence on future bassists, nor George on future guitarists. Anti-Ringotards may now commence their coping and seething.

The joke is he’s retarded and has a fat nose.
>>
>>153467465
Ringo also created Heavy Metal with Helter Skelter and paved way for Blast beats
>>
Talented or not, John and Paul were HUGE assholes.
>>
Comedy is easier to write if one of the characters is a doofus. The show's writers took their inspiration from "A Hard Day's Night", which gave some comic relief scenes to Ringo.

Ringo Starr is in real life a very intelligent person.
>>
>>153467371
>Make him the butt of the joke
>Now 90% of the show is about him
Same with Scooby Doo and Shaggy, who genuinely gave a shit about Fred, Velma and the purple one?
>>
>>153467430
Someone should draw the cartoon versions in the Sgt Peppers outfits, complete with mustaches.
>>
>>153467430
I sometimes like to imagine a world where the cartoon was a huge success and continued after the Beatles broke up. There are 39 episodes, and with the presence of sing-alongs they could reuse songs from earlier episodes. There are 213 Beatles songs on their studio albums, it easily could have gone on. Especially if they decided to address the breakup and start making episodes based on their solo career (at four songs an episode, easily doable, just use one each)
>>
>>153467465
Also Ringo has made more number 1 hits, best selling albums, and more money out of all the other Beatles solo careers. He's literally fucking better than all of them.
>>
>>153468240
If Yoko appears, she’d probably voice herself. Who else would be able to mimic her “““singing”””

Everyone ITT is missing that Ringo was the star (HA!) in all of the movies and as such was the star of the cartoon as well. He genuinely loved acting and had more acting roles after the band broke up than any other member. So he ended up kind of becoming the default lead of the band when they were used in media. John, Paul, and George also all had varying levels of beefs with each other, while Ringo was relatively drama-free between them, so making Ringo the star wouldn't piss any of the other three off.
>>
>>153468040
John and Paul were such huge assholes that they turned George into an asshole out of how much of huge assholes they were being. Then Ringo was just kind of sitting there playing the drums and wondering why everyone was so pissy. If you read stuff about their later career John, Paul, and George are basically all at each other's throats while still acting completely cordially with Ringo, it's really funny.

I like to think that for a zoomer I have a fairly decent grasp of popular culture and especially music from before my times, but every now and then I stumble upon something like this that I learn was apparently pretty big and yet I barely ever heard of it. You learn something new all the time.

Also I never understood where has this meme of hating bagpipes came from. Pretty much everyone I know likes their sound, yet cartoons always insisted that they're some cacophonous torture instrument
>>
>>153468343
A lot of people. Her vocals weren't actually unique, they just weren't meant for "listening" music.

She took a form of singing commonly used in the backdrop of kabuki and other japanese theatre types to create a musical accompaniment meant for scene setting rather than listening pleasure

This is why she's so goddamn off-putting when you hear her with John, it was always a specific singing style where the vocals themselves function more that of an instrument that blends to taiko drums, biwa. It's the same origin point you see in a lot of movies when you see something like a plain or a mountain range and you get that chanting music. Multiple cultures having their own versions.

John and Yoko both had massive fucking egos and couldn't piece together why it didn't work moved from this context.

Yoko was born to a politician of samurai descent with a performing arts mother, lost everything in the Tokyo firebombings, moved to New York where her parents praised all her academic and artisanal ability but tiger parented and chastisted her for any friend she dared to make for being "beneath the family".

So she was kinda always destined to be a wounded ego bitch. Same with John being used as an emotional weapon between his parents and his paternal abandonment issues.

Match made in hell.

>Also a shame that nightmare version being made by Robert Zemeckis was never finished because Mars Needs Moms ate shit.
We did NOT need to see Yellow Submarine made in the Mars Needs Moms/Polar Express style animation. I actually liked Polar Express and the CG Christmas Carol Movie with Jim Carey but they also both prove that trying to make a trippy fantasy movie with that mocap style was probably going to fall completely flat.

You know who could've had one I'm surprised didn't? Menudo. They did music spots on ABC Saturdays I'd forgotten about, which is probably how I know who they are, and apparently they did the theme song to Rubic The Amazing Cube but no cartoon of their own it seems.

Hindsight is 20/20, and Cobain killing himself graphically would have immediately had the show pulled from air.

Plus MTV cartoons, KINDA represented that decade of animation for teens. Beavis and Buttheat at the forefront.
>>
>>153477330
I sometimes imagine a world where the Rolling Stones also got a cheap 60s cartoon and it caused the first major cartoon fandom war where Stones and Beatles fans kept insisting that THEIR cheap 60s cartoon was the better one. Their rivalry was manufactured press bullshit by the way, both bands actually got along great with each other.

I had an idea for a David Bowie cartoon where Major Tom lands on a Alderson Disk world representing all his various albums and projects and gathers a crew of various Bowie archetypes (Halloween Jack, the Thin White Duke, the Laughing Gnome and the Threpenny Pierrot, the lads of the Tin Machine) and to save the giant world from the Super-Men (defeaters of the Savior Machine who took control in the power vacuum) and their New Killer Star from descending on the land and destroying everything (a meteor that is later revealed to be the descending needle of a record player that will tear the land apart if allowed to play on the grooves)

It's later revealed, the whole world is a deep meditative state Major Tom is in, and he can't remember who he is on the outside anymore, only that during a brief joint to said outside realm he's living on the streets (he's not, he's just experiencing homelessness as a practice of empathy and has a flat with Iman) so he's scared to leave the Bowie Disc after the Duke brings the Major Tom archetype back inward, defeating and bottling the Pierrot.

not a band, but your post made me realize that there's no official Elvis cartoon.

the Ramones could have easily starred in a cartoon
>Johnny would be like the Moe Howard of the group, cranky and bossy, expecting the rest of the band to follow him without question.

>Joey is the cool/quiet one and the spiritual leader of the group.
>Whenever Johnny comes up with a plan he expects the others to follow, Dee Dee and Tommy will always turn to Joey and ask him what he thinks.
>They usually catch him with his nose in a comic book.

>Dee Dee would be an idiot troublemaker with a sweet side---that you rarely see---who is also sometimes cunning and a manipulator, like a mix between Toki Wartooth (naivety) and Daniel Desario from Freaks and Geeks (manipulator)
>Out of all the Ramones, Dee Dee is the one that's most likely to steal your drugs and then help you look for them.

>Tommy is the peacemaker of the group, the one trying to keep them all together.
>Despite being the shortest, he's the one that's willing to get between Joey and Johnny (or anyone else Johnny starts beef with) to stop a fight from happening.
>Like Joey, you almost never see him without his sunglasses on.

In my head the Hallo Spaceboy song was going to be just a scene of Major Tom and the crew landing on the Outside setting in their souped-up Gemini craft.

The false awakening moment in my mind, was during the Scary Monsters setting, Tom is tricked by Pierrot into awakening AS Tom in his real body, and the Ashes to Ashes bit plays him wandering around, not remembering who he is, only realizing he's seemingly homeless. Thin White Duke saves him, slipping into Reality through his cracked mind and manifesting as a mental picture of a showroom dummy (for the Fashion song) and helping Tom return to the Fantasy with Pierrot bottled.
