They were jealous Ringo had the most influence on his instrument out of all the Beatles. Rock drumming innovations that exist because of Ringo: playing with matched grip, down-tuning the snares, drumming behind the beat. The drums as played in rock music would not be the same if not for Ringo. Paul had nowhere near that level of influence on future bassists, nor George on future guitarists.
