>>153479828>Jigoku-boy Usagikek
>>153483897Nope, that's literally Vader's plot to find the rebel base in the original movie. He doesn't come right out and shout "THAT WAS MY EVIL PLOT TO FIND THE REBEL BASE!" at any point but if you're paying attention, it's clearly what they're doing, and Luke and friends are dumb enough to fall for it and lead them right to the very thing that he couldn't get Leia to reveal. Compare how the stomtroopers act in the initial scene when they're skillfully gunning down rebel fighters like trained professionals, blithely ignoring C3P0 wandering across the line of fire and staying on target, with their terrible performance later.
>>153485045By "later", I don't mean the '90s special editions, I mean the editing that went into producing the original final version. The "I'm taking an awful risk, Vader" scene is pretty odd....and Leia sees through it but lets it slide and endanger the rebel base?In a pre-release version the rebel base is never attacked by the Death Star and they proactively go out to destroy it for the sake of destroying it.
>>153485122Oh yeah, the pre-release is full of little things like that. I think it's a change for the better. The whole story makes more sense if Vader intentionally allows them to rescue Leia. It's a sensible way to repurpose a captive who isn't giving you anything useful anymore, it makes Vader and the Empire look clever, and it neatly explains the previously-deadly stormtroopers' sudden inability to hit anything and the way the Falcon was placed into a deserted hangar with just a single squad of troopers sent in to investigate with no backup waiting outside.
I wish Stan would deviate from mundane feudal Japan stuff more often, I enjoy his yokai and sci-fi creatures quite a bit
>>153485482But Vader ISN'T clever in the first movie; he's a violent, impaitent thug. Kidnapping Leia was his idea; an imperial officer complains to him that it'll backfire on them and she won't betray the rebels, but Vader is confident...but the officer was right. After torturing Leia fails he paces around bitching about it uselessly.Tarkin is the villian and Vader is his weird lackey, like in a James Bond movie.
>>153478972? I don't think there's a point where they stopped being friends. I'd also argue they have the closest connection out of anyone except maybe Usagi and Jotaro or Usagi and his master.
Space Usagi 100 milestones.
