Personally, and I’m not sure if any run truly captures this, but I like the idea of her being initially recluse upon arriving on Earth. She’s shy, and kinda sticks by Clark initially especially in the Fortress of Solitude as that’s what’s most familiar to her as a Kryptonian. She comes to be known as Supergirl first, kinda the inverse of Clark’s own beginnings. She saves lives and while initially put off by the cultural and developmental differences of Earth vis a vis Krypton she gradually develops an interest in what Humans are like. Clark is happy with this, really he’s been nudging her (respectfully) to interact with folks outside of her Supergirl persona and jumps at the chance to show her Smallville and Metropolis. In addition to this Clark shows her Americana high culture and also low culture and she makes comparisons of both to Krypton which Clark finds fascinating as well. Eventually she becomes more open and expressive than before and kinda adopts a Classic American Mid-West personality that’s kinda anachronistic now but was passed onto her by Clark and Ma and Pa Kent. Eventually, though Clark isn’t pushing it particularly, she becomes interested in Earth based culture’s in general and becomes somewhat of an aficionado on the topic. In her core she doesn’t really reject her Kryptonian heritage but has an appreciation for Earth she hadn’t had before. She’s kinda Americanized but not to the same extent of her cousin. I think this would be particularly interesting if Krypton, also, was an illiberal (though not evil) society so the juxtaposition is greater when she is introduced to American and Western society at large. Doubly so if, despite liking a lot about the West, she likes some aspects of the East more as to her they’d be closer to what Krypton was. This would set her apart from Clark who would be more taken in by American Exceptionalism but in a manner that doesn’t really belittle Clark and his beliefs.
Anon, you retard, if it isn’t a thinly veiled stealth porn thread or ragebait no one gives a shit
>>153479755All I know is she should be nothing like Rooster Cogburn.
>>153479755I think she'd be best as a blend of aggressive and skittish yet very alone who slowly warms up to her cousin and his family then the rest of Earth as she begins to forge connections. But she'll never forget the destruction of Krypton and part of her will always resent Earth for not being Krypton as a technological power and her Home. Meanwhile for Clark, Krypton's more of a lost dream and Earth is Home so I think they could have some interesting conflict over that. Earth's the town halfway across the country she ended up in after her home burned down and she lost her family and she found close family over there and friends but she misses the original place dearly even though it had its imperfections.
>>153479988Thanks for your non-contribution.
>>153479755>character arcNot what cape characters are meant for
>>153481331Indeed the further the better
>>153481520I like this idea too. In terms of conflict though, and I suppose this depends on the maturity of Supergirl at the time, but how abrasive (for lack of a better word) should the conflict be once it comes to a head?>>153482578I never understood this mentality. Of course arcs can apply to capeshit. Just because DC reboots every 5 years now doesn’t mean it’s any less true. From 1986 to 2011 it was true, why can’t it be true now? At least theoretically.
>>153483616>how abrasive (for lack of a better word) should the conflict be once it comes to a head?I don't know that it'll get there as much as it'll be heavy. Krypton's obviously a sensitive issue and Clark has enough emotional intelligence to be gentle and recognize Kara's dealing with a loss that even he can't quite comprehend due to being a baby when he was sent away while Kara's in her teens and had a life and family.
>>153483898That’s fair, I guess the more heavy stuff is if a young Kara interacts with other heroes her age
>>153484047Or rather the more abrasive stuff I mean
Clark is Naruto. Kara is Sasuke.
>>153484047>>153484062Yeah. See I view Kara as being alone so even at her worst she's not going to try to alienate Clark because she is genuinely happy to have him even if its so confusing to her.
>>153484186I imagine, like in my original post, she’d spend a lot of time in the Fortress of Solitude.
>>153485232It would be the closest place to home she can find so yes I like that a lot
>>153483616>From 1986 to 2011 it was trueAbout supergirl? lol you don’t read comics. Also, it was not, in fact, true in the post crisis era any more than post flashpoint.
>>153487221>>153485232I like when she went with the Legion of Superheroes in JLU because it reminded her more of Krypton and she felt more at home there.
>>153487434That would be a pretty good plot for her or Power Girl for a few years and I'd read it
>>153479755Teen girl fish out of water, trying to fit in and be a superhero like her once younger cousin. Her reintroduction in Batman/Superman is just about right. I do like it when she shows interest in boys since she is a teenage girl. Personally I wish they played that up a bit more often.
>>153479755good question
>>153487375Not about Supergirl specifically but about character arcs in general
>>153479755Bubbly bright teenager
>>153490085I like that too. I just like it if she grew into that
>>153479755I’m quite fond of the idea of her Missing Krypton but finding joy in little Earth things
>>153479755BPD schizo psycho party bitch who slashes tires and pokes holes in condoms
>>153493395Isn’t that just live wire?
>>153493472Kek, you're right
>>153479755Nice girly girl suits her well, but at the same time makes her comics range from silly to horrendousI liked the dc superhero girls aproach that just gave her powergirl personality but in a universe with both characters she should keep her personality instead of going mad with power So yeah insecure goofy teenager
>>153489109List 5 character arcs that lasted completely from 86 to 2010. And I mean the ENTIRE time. Not “well it lasted until so and so did such and such in 2004”.
>>153493596Well Batman's Ras Al' Ghul story arc just kept on going uninterrupted Superman and Lobo rivalry also just kept goingCyclops and Emma Frost romance but with so many x men relaunches I can't be sure it kept goingWho else is just there for the past 30 years?
>>153493654>Well Batman's Ras Al' Ghul story arc just kept on going uninterruptedNot an arc it was a rivalry and many details including the agency and intentions of Talia were constantly altered. >Superman and Lobo rivalry also just kept goingNot even remotely a character arc>Cyclops and Emma Frost romance but with so many x men relaunches I can't be sure it kept goingWhat does that have to do with post crisis to pre flashpoint DC?
>>153479755I’m thinking totally submissive tradwife married to a White sigma Earth man.
>>153479755I prefer her not to exist. She adds nothing of value to existing stories, has no interesting stories of her own, and only serves to lessen the impact of Clark being the last son of Krypton.
>>153479755It's tough for me, because I like her as her original incarnation of the average kind teenaged girl who's also a superhero; but logically I think her having a lot of drama and being more alien makes more sense for her.The issue that classic Supergirl had/has is she is too similar to Clark in general role and personality. And the more modern incarnation of her does fix both of those things.Perhaps there's a way to square both of those and have her be an alien with trauma who becomes a kind hearted girl.
>>153479755Good Kansas farm girl with a mean streak and easy to get emotional. Also very girly (in a farm girl way). I feel they've written her too traumatized and removed nowadays and she seems way too masculine because of it.
>>153482578Cape characters have arcs all the time. And then repeat them over and over again.I hear Batman is having issues with his Bat-family over him not killing the joker again. And Captain America is struggling with the sins of his government.
