Yesterday Peter Parker didn't come out of retirement, but that didn't stop Spider-Man from trying to fight baddies

It feels like we are seeing more experimental art in the main books now. Like, this is the biggest shift in art style between main books we've seen.

Once not too long ago I was at a movie, and me and this girl were the only ones in there. Perfect strangers, happened to be seated next to each other
Just the two of us so we were chatting, making commentary
Movie ends, we go our separate ways, 20 minutes later the thought crashes into me "Why didn't I get her number??"

Is John Jameson the only person in this franchise with a healthy paternal relationship?

All storytimers go to Heaven. If you wanna get chummy with demons, you're gonna have to do it down here.

The New York citizens come around on Spider-Man eventually, right? Post-movie?

So this is a little before Kingpin's debut, then?
>>
>>153486691
And he didn't even need a super special computer chip this time.
>>
Imagine being a villain and talking yourself up like this, only to find out that you killed some 17 year old kid
>>
>>153486741
The fight with Joe Smith was in Amazing 38 and Kingpin first appeared in Amazing 50
And Spidey had already fought Mysterio three time by that point
So there's a time line you could make

Did they make a conscious decision only to call Romita back for Gwen stories or what?
>>
I said my piece way back that Peter and Gwen's relationship never really stuck with me
We were told they were love a lot, but rarely ever shown it. We only ever got the parts of Spider-Man getting in the way.
The 90s did a lot to sanctify Gwen post-mortem, with the same rose coloured glasses this story is accusing itself of wearing
But as someone without the same nostalgia that these writers obviously have, it rings a bit hollow

Anyway, maybe no storytime tomorrow, but next time Spider-Man fights a skeleton

Thanks Magister. Just remember, we haven’t reached Gwen revisionism critical mass yet. Spider-Man Blue is yet to come
>>
>>153485089
I was hoping you were gonna do this, I really like this series

Yeah, this wasn't a bad read

Thanks for storytiming, Magister!

Hey, is this the line that eventually has a story about Tombstone getting prison raped or something?
>>
>>153488151
That was Tangled Web, I believe.
>>
>>153485621
It seems like half of Spider-Man's enemies are different ways Peter could have turned out.

These pages should be shoved down current Marvel editorial's throat and fucking rammed into their eyes so that they see that their entire taste is patently wrong.
>>153486998
These descriptions juxtaposed with the art might appear to have tone dissonance, but I think it works, desu. It highlights how Spider-Man appears to have a glamorous life and Peter has always wanted that kinda life but then once you peel it back like JMD has done here, there is nuance. But this one time, we see it was a time where they could have fun and strike an uneasy balance that still left them in a happy middle.
>>153487115
I agree Magister. I fucking hate the Saint Gwen shit. But....this story in a vaccuum is kino precisely because it acknowledges those rose-tinted glasses. If they didn't keep going back and rewriting history then I'd feel more comfortable about praising this. I think it naturally (through the framing device/narration) justifies it's existence. We never saw a whole glimpse at that time. It does show that Peter's life is messy and he required a shove and a push into the life he led. Spider-Man pushed him as much as it kept him back. And I think the hedged words Peter says makes it more realistic about how that time appears to him now and encapsulates more of the coming of age themes.

Thanks magister

>Spider-Man fights a skeleton
Finally the Spider-Man/He-Man crossover we've all been waiting for. Thanks for the storytime Magister.
>>
>>153487625
This series has a decent amount of bangers, I bought this collected second hand 4 or 5 years ago
>>
>>153485564
This isn’t really a main book, it was another attempt at creating trades and graphic novel stories for Peter and fill in gaps in canon that were left their naturally or by cancelations. This series has a story that’s actually integral to silver surfers canon
