I'm starting to believe that Molly McGee is a sociopathic manipulator who uses a false persona to obtain influence for whatever sinister end goal she has in mind that only benefits her and her alone. As having an open, joyous & happy persona specifically is to entice people and let them let their guard down around her, she learned this behavior from her father Pete; mimicking his behavior and wanting to help people, but for personal gain rather than out of the goodness of her heart.
The reason why she hasn't gone 100% schizo is because of her fear as demonstrated in that episode where Scratch puts a curse on her to become fearless for the next twenty four hours, it's also because she knows that she is physically weak and can not abuse or physically harm people into getting what she wants, and would be demolished in a fight, as confirmed by one of the creators and as seen in the first episode with the dodgeballs, as well as in that interaction where that one kid kung fu's her ass to the ground, but can instead psychologically manipulate them.
This would also explain her occasional cracks in her behavior, her too frequent bursts of psychopathic moments to which fearfully Scratch acknowledges throughout the show, but she always catches herself and makes sure to always make it about 'enhappifying' or for 'positive reasons' rather than exposing herself in front of her friends and family.
There's also her frequent bouts of obsessive behavior like with that one episode where she was able to precisely track down Kenny Star by the mere second, even if turned out to be his stunt double and not the actual Kenny Star.
And then there's also the fact that when she doesn't get her way and people don't do what she wants she drops the act almost entirely and throws a fit, trying to make people do what she wants or manipulates the situation in her favor like in that snow day episode.
>>
There's also the episode with Weird Larry where she talks about her plans for the future, starting small, climbing the corporate ladder and then having her influence impact the rest of the world under the guise of "Enhappification" which I also believe to be a front for something much more sinister.
Also look at how she reacted when she got an ounce of power, a short brief but in her mind, a substantial amount of power in that episode about making a film with Libby and Scratch.
She did not give one singular fuck about them until she was being stripped of her influence in making the movie, because how caught up she was.

This is also likely why Molly over-compensates and tries to 'correct' her behavior, hence it is forced and just a fake persona established by her for some nefarious goal or gain of some kind.
I think she's so deep in this shit that she applies that to every interaction of the show, knowingly.
That episode where she kisses all of her plush toys in front of Scratch felt so fucking fake as shit, it's laughable.

Also how come Darryl didn't turn out like Molly?.. unless he did and Darryl is just Molly if she didn't create this fake persona.
Though to give credit where it's do, Darryl isn't as crazy as her.

Molly also disregarded Libby's feelings in the Bat Mitzvah episode, wanting to create a party doing it her way rather than the way Libby wanted, though she "reflected" on this mishap and how this made Libby feel, if you take into account that this only happened when Libby brought it to Molly's attention, this implies she's done this several times before without realizing it, all the friends she would've made in previous counties in previous states she did this exact thing to, but they never spoke up about either out of fear or "feeling bad" because Molly is so "nice" and not wanting to "upset her" even though in this scenario it would be right for them to be "selfish" and bring it to Molly's attention like Libby did.

The fact that she had those tendencies previously until she got put into her place showcases a string of consistent behaviors that have likely been boiling up inside her for quite sometime before that point, behaviors that likely won't go away on their own through just one slap on the wrist "humbling" interaction, she'll likely just go back to these behaviors at some point at a later date because of habitual reasons and for the reason that it hasn't been fully ingrained into her completely, especially when she gets older and becomes more hormonal and unpredictable.

If she only learns in these episodes, that means she's done this behavior countless times before without even realizing it, somewhere at some point off-screen, therefore it's habit, therefore it's her nature. So even if she learns in that moment, she might not think about it later on when a similar situation happens because she's so used to doing "what she does best" rather than learning from her past behaviors.
Let's also not forget when Molly got distracted for a whole day while HER FUCKING FAMILY was locked in the basement because of "muh distractions".

It's in her nature, her true nature. The “enhappify” mentality she has is just a facade to mask her pure rage 24/7

>wanting to be in control and forcing people to do what she wants in accordance to her plans, and then getting mad when the others want to do something else instead is not petty

Putting on a nice demeanor means putting people at ease and letting them let their guard down, it also builds trust, so when she subtly manipulates people or actually does lie against someone it lessens the impact and people are more likely to believe her in those instances, as "why would somebody who always wants to do good for others and never lie, lie about that? that's very out of character of Molly" or so they think. It's all about playing the long game until the moment appears to strike.

Make people feel le good = making them let their guard down = makes them welcoming to her presence since she's always consistent and thoughtful = manipulating them to do things since she's always been so good to them, why can't they return a favor? = psychologically conditioning them to do more for her, as she start doing less for them = becoming Mayor [Dictator] of Brighton at some point later on down the road
The sweet persona and doing things for others will only last for so long before she shows her true colors.

>And then there's also the fact that when she doesn't get her way and people don't do what she wants she drops the act almost entirely and throws a fit, trying to make people do what she wants or manipulates the situation in her favor like in that snow day episode.
This, she sees people as drugs to make her feel good about herself. She only seeks friends so she can push her ideas and morals onto them, thinking she is doing them a service and improving their lives by being in it, when in reality she is simply feeding her narcissistic delusions. Molly is a bad person, she deserves to be alone and forgotten, Molly Mcgee must become a name no one remembers.

Molly was just a golem, one that Libby began crafting the moment she plopped in the seat next to her. First she turned her against Andrea (who was just trying to be friendly) with some sob story about being an outcast. The moment she met Scratch she tried to drive a wedge between him and Molly. Then when Andrea almost made it big, she guilt tripped Molly into convincing Andrea to shoot her future in the foot, then did jack shit to help her when her family's business went under. Libby was the only character that ended the series in a better position than when it began.

At first glance she is this happy girl that wants to spread happiness, but the more you watch the show he comes off more as a control freak that has a very specific way of how she wants the world to be and kind of forces everything around her to bend to that idea.

It comes as controlling and selfish despite her helping a lot of people because from this perspective she sees them less like people and more like Sims in her own personal game.
Think about it she makes arbitrary rules that makes everyone follows, forces her ideas on other people because she says so, choose her best friends though arbitrary stats she made up instead of who she likes better and has a very dominating attitude to Scratch.

They reserved that role for Weird Al / the banana guy where Wonder actually had to play the Batman role to stop the Joker that forces everyone to laugh.

We need more fake nice villain PROTAGONISTS
We have plenty of jokesters and evil nice types and evils pretending to be nice, but they're all antagonists. We don't have any protagonists or protagonists turned villain where the deuteragonist has to stop them.

Also goddamn do I hate brown people all the way from brown Argentina to Zimbabwe.

Okay, so is the moral epiphany that moving so many times in her formative years has warped Molly's personality? That her unflagging upbeat optimism is merely an expression of a deeply rooted desire to enforce a stable, wholesome environment even if it has to be maintained through subterfuge and willful delusion? Even if it as a facade contrived to curate reality itself. That Molly’s tenacity for ‘enhappification’ isn’t altruism so much as stealth coercion, with the goal of reshaping people and situations to fit her idealized world view. Underneath her mask of deception is a selfish want for control, where kindness becomes leverage, a means to an end, and every smile she masquerades serves as a shield, a deflection of who she really is until she can finally reach her end goal. She is a conniving son of a bitch.
>>
>>153492413
That would be funny in a depressing way if that were the case, since Molly seems incredibly fucking selfish as she seems to completely disregard Scratch's feelings on their enforced friendship and works more on wearing him down enough that he'll settle.
It makes you wonder how many times this has happened before, not with ghosts, but with former friends of hers in previous small towns the McGees resided in, where she applied the same strategy.
And as a side note, she has a complete flip in empathy when she doesn't give two shits about her whole immediate family being trapped in a basement with no way out... as she's too busy getting distracted by trivial meaningless bullshit the entire day? They could've died down there but that doesn't matter because she would have more ghost friends to torture all day-every day!
And that's not even getting into her levels of jealousy when it comes to her feeling left out or not included, like in Snow Day or a Period Piece.
If she ever feels a tiny bit like an outsider she freaks the fuck out. In that case, I wonder how she was able to remain so optimistic about her reputation in the first episode.

This is a fair point until you realize this affects the innocent as well as the guilty; she doesn't have the foresight to inflict upon those who need inflicting because she doesn't stand by the supposed values she "holds" so dear to her cold, dead heart. She is a fraud, a phony in every aspect, and you're crazy if you ever fell for her tricks and schemes, if you ever believed that she cared about a cause, or if you ever wanted her to be genuinely good, because she isn't.

Molly overcompensates and pretends to be something she isn't; therefore, she is fake and gay. It's not hard to understand.

(1. She doesn't actually want to help people; she just wants them to fit into her narrow mold of what is right and wrong, helping them help her by making them conform to her ideal worldview, making them ease into it via the method of "enhappification".

And if they don't? Look at the snow episode. And if they don't? Look at a period piece. And if they don't? Look at Libby's bat mitzvah.

(2. When she got a single ounce of power, which she conceptualized as much larger than it really was, she imposed herself over others' wants when she had the opportunity until it happened to her. The taste of power is enticing no matter how small the crumb.

(3. She doesn't care if Scratch possesses other people, even if it endangers others, as long as it fixes her fuck-ups. Refer to the first episode, the episode in which Scratch possessed a bus driver because they couldn't get Kenny Star, and the time when he possessed Weird Larry when they didn't have to; if they had just gone to his store while it was open, they wouldn't have had to. Doesn't matter if it's reckless, as long as it works and saves her sorry ass.

(4. She's self-centered and terribly annoying; she is absolutely insufferable to be around, and she is fake as fuck.

Oh yeah, and what a "friend" Molly is. How could we forget Molly sabotaging the Davenports and their hard-earned money even after Andrea saved the McGees by saving their house, and that's what Molly does for Andrea? That's how she reciprocates the favor? WHAT. THE. FUCK?!

It's indefensible. And if you say, "Well, dude, she was just trying to be nice? She didn't mean it! Wah wah retard ramblings wahhhh."

Just like your digits, it ever so slightly missed the mark. I've always wondered why myself though. It appears to, even with its faults, be a brilliantly produced show with easily some of the cutest characters DTVA has ever had. Yet, according to staff people, it was basically doomed when streaming numbers plummeted mid-season 1 and my guess is they took an even worse hit in season 2.

If I had to guess what killed it early on
>kids maybe found the town too boring
>kids mightve been scared by the ghost premise
>conversely, maybe there weren't ENOUGH evil ghosts
>Molly's family is boring
>we already just had a Thai girl
>build up Andrea/Molly's rivalry turning firendship, only to spend most of season 1 focusing on Pete's annoying extended family, two variants of Suga Mama, and varous other characters that aren't identifiable to the demographic

Molly McGee isn't just "a bit much"; she's too much. She's not a caring person; she's overbearing. She's invasive and out to harm; she's clingy like a leech. Molly is a control freak who sees people as puppets she can manipulate in the game of life; if you invite her into your world, SHE WILL take over so fast it'll make your head spin. Everything about her is forced; her demeanor, her behavior, her mannerisms, her motivations, her objectives, and her solutions. And she herself isn't a solution to Brighton; she's only hindering it the longer she stays there. Maybe not immediately; she's like a Trojan horse, a delayed impact. Things are good because they seem good right now, but things are going to change soon and they're going to change fast.
