Post favorite /co/ vidya. This kino was proof that Looney Tunes could have games just as good as Disney's back in the day.

Easily this or the old X-Men 6 player arcade machine.

>>153494459
Looney Tunes aesthetic worked insanely well for the PS1 era, why is that?
>>
>>153496892
I'm sorry you never played the other PS1 Looney Tunes games.
>>153498146
They all used the Chuck Jones style as reference, which is more angular than the other directors' styles. Maurice Noble's mountains and cliffs are more convincing in low-poly than they were when they moved to more powerful hardware
>>
>>153496892
How can you possibly say that when Sheep Raider exists?
>>
>>153494459
Never played this one, but Bugs & Taz: Timebusters was my shit.
>>
>>153498146
Old cartoons or old cartoon-adjacent designs (Crash etc) leant themselves to the PS1 than something going for realism

That's how you know you're a true /co/ autist.

Basic bitch opinion, but I don't care. If you don't think this is the tightest shit ever, get the fuck outta my face.

I played the goddamn shit out of this to 100%. It was just a Jak and Daxter clone, but I couldn't get enough. Especially loved the final Solar Surfer level.

Looney Tunes has always been capable of beating Disney at its own game, particularly because it's always been more experimental. That's why it's been so sad to see the brand struggle so much this last decade or so...

I'm gonna go with the entire Sam and Max game series because it started off as a comic.

This. Safe and sterile wins the race it seems like, these days.
>>153507832
I really wish someone would leak the original PC only build. I'm willing to bet it would have been a lot better if the devs weren't forced to work on n64 and playstation, and we didnt even get the ps version anyways.

Also those boss fights are fucking gay cancer. Fun soundtrack though.

Love this game, shame it's kind of uncommon in the states
>Pygnosis developed
>Midway Published
>All the muppets get turned into various monsters (like Gonzo as Nosferatu) and it's up to Robin to collect enough "evil energy" to put a top to them
>Peppy The King Prawn is always around to give advice

I've seen other anons compare it to a much better version of Ripto's Rage

Desert Demolition for Sega Genesis. It's short, but being able to play as the Coyote and finally knock that Road Runner down a few pegs is cathartic.

Looking back, it does seem like the late 90s and 2000s seemed to actually have pretty decent games based on existing popular cartoons. I wonder what happened.
>>
>>153519510
Good games became too expensive to develop.
>>
>>153519546
But the cartoon licenses became dirt-cheap, which is why we got a lot of licensed shovelware in the 2000s.

Loved these games on the GBA, honestly would like to see a rerelease, or maybe even remakes. Wish there was a fourth one staring Mickey and Goofy, like make it about saving Max or something.

The new rugrats platformer was fun, but it was short. Totally Spies got a switch game too, and that was soo fucking long to complete.

I've actually never played it, or watched more than one or two epsiodes of Spongebob besides the first movie. Is the rehydrated version worth playing, it's what I can find on Steam.

no one posted the best looney tunes game yet?
>>
>>153521368
I got this game as a loose cartridge without knowing anything about it. Took me ages to find all the ways you could interact with Daffy, and it constantly surprised me. I still don't think I found everything.
>>
>>153521368
An interesting idea, but it was barely a game. A proper Duck Amuck game would be something like Pac-Man 2 mixed with Scribblenauts, where mercilessly fucking with him is the point, rather than just a side effect of that being more fun than the actual game.

>>153521434
Great game, captured the look of Looney Tunes perfectly.
>>
This was basically Elite Beat Agents, but with classical, public-domain music featured in various Looney Tunes shorts. It was actually a lot of fun.
>>
>>153519510
Good developers hyperfixated on their own IP, Capcom and Konami no longer needed Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny to sell to the West because they had a strong pedigree. Which meant that the only studios doing licensed games were studios that made nothing but licensed games.
>>
>>153521860
It's a real shame how things getting better also somehow makes them worse. Gone are the days where a rogue Capcom team would approach Nintendo with a half-finished Zelda game and threaten to release it as something else if they didn't get the license. Playing with someone else's toys can be a lot of fun, and you can end up making something really special if the team is motivated.
>>
>>153521934
Yeah. I think smaller-scope games also made their goals more attainable. There are a ton of great licensed games that came from reusing an existing engine or the need to finance future projects:
>McDonald's Treasure Land Adventure
>Goof Troop
>Mickey's Speedway USA
>Goldeneye 007
>Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster's Hidden Treasure
>Donald Duck: Goin' Quackers
>Batman: Revenge of the Joker
The list goes on. These were all short games that had a lot of care put into them even if they had short turnaround times and development periods

Fun fact: Duck Dodgerrs 64 was based on an early version of the Duck Dodgers cartoon show, which was in development hell at the time. Lola Bunny was in that game, but absent from the final show.

>"Disney's marketing dept. was kind of weird sometimes.. It was supposed to be Donald Duck as Maui Mallard, and after the game was ready to be shipped they suddenly started saying "Donald Duck isn't hip in the U.S.".. We need to change the title.. And they came up with Cold Shadow, and I was really disappointed in that."—Patrick J. Collins, "Remaking an Icon, the true story of Maui Mallard and Cold Shadow", 1UP
Is this true that burgers hate Donald? Him and Scrooge were my favourite characters, Mickey was just boring.
