It copies the initial premise without any of the interesting aspects like the charming charisma of the aliens, the goofiness of the family Membran, the dirty atmosphere or the amusing plans of the Antagonists. There is no reason to watch it over Zim. Even as someone who grew up with Kid vs. Cat and had to catch up with Zim later in his life, the nostalgia couldn't compensate for the gigantic disparity in quality. Just watch Zim, from my knowledge Kid vs. Cat doesn't even have the argument of quantity on its side as it also only has 1 or 2 seasons.

The cat is barely alien and only does very generic things. While at least in zim as you said gaz is well liked because goth girl trying to mind her business but the little sister is a total annoying brat who seems to relish her brothers suffering. Then the main boy isn't as fun as dib who is a bit of a victim and antagonist in his own right. Also yeah the vibes and atmosphere are drastically different. If you showed me any IZ bg I'd know it was IZ or at least get a good vibe from it immediateyl but show me any kid v kat and I'd struggle to know it from any other bg basic clipart or cartoon back ground.

KvK had some interesting status quo changes.First half of Season 1, Coop is trying to figure out what Kat is, Kat just wants to straight up murder him and contact his home planet/escape earth.This leads to plots of Kat trying to axe the entire family (One Big Happy Family, Let the Games Begin) plots of him trying to contact home (Search and Destroy, The episode with the treehouse) and episodes of Coop trying to figure out what he was (hence the Zombie, Werewolf, Monster, and Mummy episodes)The Midseason Finale "Nip Duck" is the turning point, Coop figures out Kat is a cyborg creature. He doesn't know he's an alien yet, but he knows enough that the supernatural speculation element that was common in Early S1. is no longer a part of the series.The amount of episodes dedicated to Kat trying to murder the entire family goes down after this point, though it's still there(The episode with the haunted house comes to mind), and instead the amount of episodes dedicated to him trying to get home or contact home go up in response(UF-Uh Oh, Hack AttacK( . He also moreso seeks to screw over Coop and get him out of commission instead of straight up murder(Cookie Duh)Also, the episodes with the supernatural speculation get replaced with episodes about Coop exploiting the fact Kat is a cyborg, like Don't Give me No Static(magnets) or Stall that Jazz(sound frequencies)The Season 1 finale has them briefly work together on a common goal, and Coop officially learns Kat is an alien with some level of heart (he has loved ones back home).The straight up murder plot episodes are ALMOST gone after this, Kat ditches that in S2.

He also technically has the means to go home, but he can't, because his Boss is pissed he ruined the scouting mission and Kat needs to do work to earn his keep.Coop now knows exactly what Kat is, and his mission has moved from figuring it out, to exposing him.While Kat has some degree of respect for Coop in S2 thanks to the S1 finale, they aren't friends. Kat probably won't murder the entire family anymore due to that honour, but he's still totally fine with enslaviing them and killing a bunch of other humans, no problem.Most of S2 is either Kat doing odd jobs for his boss (helping with the crippling kitty litter waste managment problem by dumping it on earth, stealing massive amounts of cat food to send home) or Coop trying to expose him.There's also the fact that in S2, Coop gets a love interest, Fiona, who spies on him enough to eventually figure out what's going on and become an ally to the team. There are a couple episodes about their relationship, but it never overtakes the show. (Something About Fiona, the episode with the jealous yandere, the episode about the scarf)There's also a new dynamic in Season 2. Now that he knows the full truth, Coop has a degree of bitterness to him. He's CONSTANTLY getting blamed, punish, defamed, and occasionally jailed, for stuff that isn't his fault. This is nothing new, but now in S2 he knows what Kat REALLY is(not a supernatural force, an alien), and Kat's mostly eased back the direct murder, so Coop starts to get bitter.Why should he protect a bunch of people who do nothing, but mock him, ignore him, and refuse to believe him?There are two (technically 3) episodes that address this side of things, and those are the best in the series. 'Nuff Said, and Kat to the Future Part 1 and 2.CONTINUED

He talks with Dennis about how sick of he is of taking everyones shit, being mocked on the newspaper as a delinquent, no one believing him.Eventually, he hits a tipping point and just stops fighting Kat. (This is in Season 2, so Kat has enough respect for him to not murder him). Kat, btw, is building a giant mech and a terraforming machine to turn Earth into the new Catnipien Homeworld.Dennis is still investigating though, and tells Coop what's being planned, and that it's selfish as fuck to let the world die over this.Coop has a nightmare about gloating about having been right all along after having been enslaved, and comes to his senses.And then there's the mid season finale, which shows us exactly what would have happened.Coop stops Kat from using a time machine, and instead accidentally gets sent back in time himself, specifically to the first episode where he encountered Kat, broke his collar, and got stuck with him. He throws the baseball out of the woods to his past self, so he never bumps into kat.He goes back 10 months into the future, humanity is enslaved and Earth is the brand new Catnipien homeworld. Kat was just a scout to get in and get out, learn a bit about Earth. In the months afterwards they sent thousands of Catnipiens in as "pets", infiltrating households and putting mind control collars on them in their sleep to turn them into slaves, before using their robots to knock out the rest.Coop's family lead the resistance, and the Coop in this timeline went traitor.Basically everyone tells him he fucked up, and he ends up reverting the past, even though he knows it'll make his life a living hell.The second half of S2 is more of the same, except Coop is a lot more accepting of his role.The finale involves Kat getting fired due to fucking up too much and Coop accidentally getting brought with him.
