Well I fucking struck out today. I went to my local comic book store, the only one really local to me and it was so fucking crowded, I couldn't even get to the free comics. They decided to put some special guests in the same area the free comics were, I have no clue who they were. One seemed to be a comic artist, another was some dude coloring sneakers and filming himself or some shit. The whole store was crowded as shit, I was constantly in the way or someone else was in the way. Some person was trying to give me some little thing for free but that motherfucker definitely didn't even work there, they just made some shit. And then I figured, well fuck it, if I can't physically get to the free comics then I'll go look for Batwoman Elegy, been meaning to read it for a while but the only version they had was those new miniature DC Compact Comics versions. They're only $10 which was enticing but I wanted the full-size and couldn't find it. I didn't get shit.
I grabbed a few of the frees from the table for the kids: Aquamanatee looks pretty cute and a Lego Batman one since they like the games. For myself I got my weeklies and some Love & Rockets volumes I've been eyeing for a while.
When I asked "How many per person" expecting the answer to be like three to five, I was told "one" which kind of shocked me, until I found out the guy meant one of each. Even then, I couldn't feel bothered to grab them all. I just grabbed the Avatar one, the Archie one, a couple cool covers, and a couple kiddie ones to read with my ESL Grandma.

The mainline PR relaunch just seems like The Return/Once & Always again and the Tommy one was meh but the anthology/rotating characters one seems neat.

Thread is dead compared to last year. A bit of a shame. Was able to get some extra comics if you purchased a minimum amount, so I got Rocketman, which was on sale to add to my haul.
I didn't go to a comic shop today but I did go to the chicago alternative comics expo.

No wonder I was having trouble finding much of anything to grab when I went to the FCBD website, mostly cape shit. The ones released by PRH have mostly everything else I like, the brighter colored comics with varied art styles. I'd have posted earlier, but we always also watch the Kentucky Derby with FCBD, and I ended up drinking a bit too much. I picked up an All-New Venom box, the main Marvel books, Sonic & DC books, Street Fighter, Mega Man...We hit like 6 shops, but I had a virgin variant USM that I wanted, and some guy bought like 200 books at a place with one point of sale, and I couldn't stand in line anymore. Thankfully, we went to a shop that had recently relocated into a warehouse, and has no idea how to scan anything. I walked out of there with multiple virgin variants, ratios, and a pack of Spider-Man Magic cards that should have been like $75 total, but they rang me up for about $20. Couldn't complain.

Got the Skybound issue, megaman, spider-man, dc/sonic out of morbid curiosity, and journey to the west. Also picked up an omnibus of marvel's ROM while I was there, which looks neat.
