What do you think about The Great Mouse Detective?
>>153508268Is very good?
>>153508268I think it's pretty mice
>>153508268I very narrowly avoided a furry fetish here and wound up with a crush on Vincent Price instead.
Literally one of the greatest movies Disney ever put out there, also >>153508372>>153508381>>153508390can you chill the fuck out? This movie isn’t mainstream enough to where people are gonna click on it unaware of it. Thanks for sharing the first row of Google images when you Google the movie I guess.
>>153508268good moviemiss kitty sexo
>>153508268Its good but I never really liked how the cat was just a big dumb monster.
>>153511735>humans are sapient>small animals (mice, lizards, bats, even octopus) are also sapient>anything in between, like cats and dogs, is just a normal animalThis always bugged me as a kid and it still bugs me today. I could never suspend my disbelief for this.
There aren't enough mouse movies out there.
>>153511840Domesticated animals surrendered their sapience.
Basil x Ratigan is very lameHowever Basil x Dawson is super based
>>153511840Once you are an apex predator you are nothing but your role Like the tiger on jungle book
>>153515394I respect your opinion even though it's objectively wrong
This got a one-off comic in Disney Adventures where Fidget survived and was Olivia's sidekick. It was super fucking bizarre.
>>153508320Heart pupils are too lewd.
>>153508268great movie
>>153515394>>153515470>Any gay ship>"Based"Any form of shipping is gay and cringe. Also, real funny how you queers are such vultures you've can't come up with anything yourself, so you resort to taking everything and try fagging it up.
>>153516610>Any form of shipping is gay and cringeEspecially you with a female anthro
>>153515394basil x miss kitty is king
>>153508268To say it is le underrated is truism and a fact at the same time. A good point for Disney before it become "Now, I hate musicals but..." for 90s and next years.
I think the part where Rattigan snaps and swipes at Basil like an animal is the most intense piece of animation that will ever be shown by Disney.I don't think it's ever been topped or ever will be topped.
>>153516799Used to scare the shit out of me as a kid but it's one of my favorite movies. The whole clock sequence was scary.
Mice stripper show for kids. That was a choice.Like, the premise is Sherlock Holmes but he's a mouse. You need no mouse strippers to tell that story. Also, there's some sort of inexplicable mysticism happening with the scene where Basil grinds up the burnt paper and the liquid goes through the tubes. The effect that has on you as the viewer. There are a few Disney movies that have that kind of depiction of liquid through tubes and it lodges itself in your psyche for some reason. At least if you watched it as a child.
>>153516898
>>153516930I don't mean I want to fuck glass tubes. I phrased it poorly. I meant that that imagery is persistent.
>>153508397He's one hell of a rat
>>153516930Anon is moralfagging to feel good. Also forgetting this is a "general audience" movie, not "for children exclusively".
>>153516898>Victorian London has Victorian London things>this is a catastrophe help help!
>>153516955You make Pink Elephants on Parade and other toony fetish art you insist is not toony fetish art, don't you?
>>153516991No. That seems like a pretty deranged leap of logic for you to have made.
>>153517026You have an interest in the fluid flowing through that is completely innocent, right, and you vehemently remove approving comments to the contrary. Right, right.>Wink
>>153516898>mouse stripperKitty is a mouse burlesque dancer. Learn the difference. They wanted a little song and dance number that would fit in a detective story, and the animators were horny. It’s not that deep. Disney thought 19th century sex workers were funny. They sorta come off as less slutty than 20th or 21st century sex workers because their clothes are more “historical.” Audiences of the 1980s weren’t as prudish as the typical zoomer and were mostly fine with it.
>>153516955There’s no shame in appreciating a good mad science chemistry set, anon. You don’t gotta be weird about it.
>>153508268I liked it
>>153515824>This got a one-off comic in Disney Adventures where Fidget survivedHe couldn't fly, but he never said he couldn't swim.
>>153517418wow understand
>>153508268Note: in the Comic series is revealed the Cat Survived the Royal Guardhounds.
>>153508292I love this
>>153508311>>153508325These images are in every thread about this film.
>>153508268Watchable, but nothing special. Vincent Price is great as Ratigan, but Basil could be smarter.
>>153521876There are some dedicated furry lolicons on this board, if they're awake and see a thread they'll repost. If thread lives for 24 hours, it is a matter of inevitability.
My favorite Disney movie, bar none. Vincent Price was also an amazing person in general, and I never heard of anybody who didn't enjoy his company. Plus, watching his enthusiasm when he was cooking at the end of his years was so goddamned wholesome. He's always been an inspiration to me.
>>153523563If Basil displayed actual deduction on-screen often, it would be Mystery Lane: The Movie.
>>153508268I couldn't tell mice girl was a girl until way too later in the film. I mean, what the fuck? Japan has no trouble making girls look feminine and cute, why do westerners suck so much ass at it? They had Shirley Temple yet Disney still felt the need to steal from japan to make the Little Mermaid appealing. It doesn't make sense.
>>153508292Which characters would be Mendez and Salazar?
>>153515824>>153521844The comics are gayer than Basil. The cop-outs of having all the villains survive near certain death just to keep status quo instead of allowing death to happens and giving Basil new villains to investigate is so lame
Did you know there is a BD album adaptation of Basil? Illustrated by Giorgio Cavazzano who's drawn a lot of duck comics. It's pretty good
>>153508326>>153508338Anyone else notice how almost without exception Disney's poster and video box art from the 80's and 90's was really bad compared to the drawings in the cartoon itself? The characters were always off-model and weird looking. This always annoyed me. Like why not get Drew Struzan or someone good to do it, hell why not some of the actual artists working on the film
>>153524193>Like why not get Drew Struzan or someone good to do it,Did Struzan ever do posters for animated films? Not sure his particular style would work for that. His Muppets ones are kino at least
>>153524099On one hand, cool art. On the other, comic adaptations of animated movies are always The Movie But Half The Scenes Are Missing.
What's so great about him?
>>153525681He played an important role. He crawled so a better rodent detective 37 years later could run.
>>153525793Literally who
>>153525912Pikachu
>>153525952
>>153524426A lot of time it's like that, but not always. Sometimes they keep deleted scenes in or do something different.
>>153525793Could either solve the Kira case?
I know they used a computer for this but it still looks good to this day
>>153527685If Clever does her hand thing for 5 full minutes? Yes.
>>153528167this scene fucked me up as a kid
>>153508268It's weird to think about the wider implications of mouse world being a 1:1 copy of human world. Dawson just got back from Afghanistan as a military surgeon, implying Mouse England and Mouse Russia had their own version of the Great Game. Presumably the Mouse Queen is the counterpart to Queen Victoria, so she sent her armies over to Mouse Afghanistan? Was it because the humans did it or was it an independent decision? It's just weird to think about. And of course following along this train of logic we have to eventually ask if there was a Mouse Hitler who tried to get rid of all the rats.
EVEN LOUDER!
>>153516795It really is in that Disney cult film area at this point. It is same range as something like Atlantis or Three Caballeros where it is not a mainstream film that casuals would be widely aware of but the fans of it are absolutely obsessed with it
When I was a kid I was convinced there was a TV series that I just missed somehow. I think it's because Basil and Rattigan kept referring to there being past adventures.
This is the only Disney flick I'll bother watching as an adult. It just has an edge that most burger features from the 90s onwards lack.
>>153508268I wanna see the cute fatass cat vore every character in this movie, even the offscreen humans and dogs, then become a huge fat blob
Wont lie, it is among my fav Disney movies.
>>153508369Are you pitching or catching in your fantasies?
>>153523836Her name is quite literally Olivia and she sounds like a little girl. This is solely your fault and own retardation.
>>153535529Most likely because this movie is based on a book series of the same title. You might’ve been thinking of the short lived Fivel television show.
>>153535529This format was made for a tv show that they strangely never made
i love olivia
>>153508268Good though I wish they kept the original version of Ratgan's demise where Basil distracts him with questions.
