Just finished season 1. Why were the first 4 episodes good and then it immediately went to shit? Yeah there are some problems in the first 4 problems but it's easy enough to overlook and forgive but after that it dottles around with completely useless and stuff and then goes "oh yeah I forgot we've set up like 2 other plotlines.." and then they rush through it all and it's hard to care. Like immediately after facing the big bad terrorist face to face and him leaving her alone because he knows she's weak....she just fucks off and they do the entire sports tournament bullshit with added shitty unnecessary poorly done romance. Were they just on a tight schedule and didn't have enough episodes or something? They set up like 4 or 5 plotlines and don't know how to pace them or intertwine them. That's my biggest issue. It starts off great with good intrigue and then everything gets rushed so fast that there is never any time to let anything stew for more than a minute. The sport storyline, the councilor guy fucking with Korra, and literally everything involving Asumi. They literally added nothing to the story, besides councilor guy being Amon's brother and having to be there to give us the lore dump on him. Is there any background info on the production of this show? Like there are a LOT of good ideas and good setup but it doesn't deliver and I just don't know how that happens. I know it's easy to say they're just bad writers or something but I don't 100% believe that because if that were the case there wouldn't be so many good concepts and ideas and setup. Like Korra is obviously intentionally flawed in this show and they have the self awareness to have characters constantly call her out on this and you even see Korra get owned in arguments regarding the equalists multiple times but the overall show just doesn't land it's plotlines or ideas.
