Coasting on their laurels. They felt they didn't have any competition and, aside from Western/Dell and Archie, they didn't. Timely/Marvel and Mainline were going in the tank. Quality and Fawcett had already quit. Most of the bottom feeder publishers had given up. Harvey wasn't any competition and Charlton was a joke.
