ITT: Canceled comics you were enjoying.I liked Hard Time, until the last issue. They tried doing something interesting with it, but it's still a horribly rushed issue with loose ends. Otherwise, I remember this series fondly.
>>153521059Ostrander's Heroes for Hire run. It got cancelled with basically all ongoing plots left unresolved because of the Heroes Return shit.
I cannot prove it, but the end to Ring of the 7 Worlds was so rushed I insist the creator team must of fallen apart or been told they were being cancelled by their publisher. It just suddenly lifts away from the protagonists, and ends with a big reveal and final conclusion.
>>153521181And all in 10 pages.
Automatic Kafka. While over-the-top sardonic, I was enjoying this until the final, overly meta issue.
I assume Smith was going blind or had tremens of some sort, but this was delightful
3 issues then Willingham just said "fuck it" with no resolution
>>153521059Paradiso was pretty well written, and they kinda just stopped the series on randomly without ever finishing it.
>>153521257He said it just didn't make the money needed to keep going compared to Big 2 work at the time. Now he can't do it.
I mean I really liked the ending but they deliberately did an annoying time skip over what could've been actual stories.
>>153521104>>153521125What about them?
One of the few among his cancellation that really hurt, Shalvey hasn't done anything interestingeven remotely interesting by himself, which i figured would be the case, he always was just a decent artist at most (old dog was dreadful and a bore) also the fact they published the deluxe edition with the first 3 arcs after they decided to never work with Ellis again was just the perfect kick in the balls to end any goodwill with them for a long ass while.
>>153521754>Now he can't do it.So which is it, eyes don't work or hands don't work?
>>153522122Wait, a series by Warren Ellis that never finished? Are you positive?
>>153522252He was really trying this time!
>>153521059The Amazing Mary Jane got fucked by COVID due to the time period of its launch (2019-2020) and the lesson those idiots at Spider-Editorial took away from that is it only failed because she didn't have any superpowers so we have these contrived Jackpot/Venom pivot bullshits now in 616.
The Invincible-related titles got fucked when Kirkman just randomly decided to end them. Astounding Wolf-Man and Brit were pretty fucking good but snuffed out quietly to have the characters as background extras who do nothing in the main series.Well, at least we have Battle Beast and Capes....for now...
>>153521059sounds gay >>153521104looks pretentious
>>153523390very, but i enjoyed it and looked forward to its now-effectively-canceled next release anyway.
If only it had run in Heavy Metal (or maybe ten years later in Vertigo)...
>>153523390Hard Time was only a little gay
>>153521059Technically not cancelled, Just on hiatus at 6 out of 8 issues for almost 20 years I don't think it's actually ever going to finish
>>153521059Covid :(
none
It more just didn't continue, rather than get cancelled. But I really loved the Redman comic, and the insane teaser ending made me want more.
>>153521059R.I.P it was so good
>>153524551Bullshit.
>>153522122Damn.
>>153526093Canceled?
>>153527853I mean, it kinda was, wasn't it? Marvel pulled the plug when the event wasn't pulling numbers they want.
>>153527853Yep the entire cosmic line was.
>>153521059>just put it on indefinite hiatus for 10 yearsjust a fuck you to anyone who ever backed nick spencer in shape way or form.just officially say its cancelled asshole.
>>153528236>Nick SpencerLet's hope he never writes a comic again, honestly.
>>153528246He is on Hickman's 3 worlds 3 moonsbut at least he's not helming that, if he fucking leaves, Hickman can just wrap up whatever the fuck he fucks up.
>>153528246Why?
>>153521059Mieville's Dial H.
>>153528236>nick spencerHe's done this more than I had thought, apparently.
>>153522370This one felt like it was always meant to be a Mini that would go back into the main book.
>>153529374Probably because he's a hack.
>>153521059I was planning to get the trade since I heard nothing but good things, but it looks like we won't even get that.
>>153529833No he's
>>153529745That one was particularly good, fuck, more comics with this feel?
This was a decently fun series but it went a little schizo in the last few issues and then just stopped after a filler issue without resolving anything.>>153529644This one was a bummer. At least it had a serviceable stopping point though.
Southern Cross was good. It ended right in the middle of a big action sequence too.
The first run was good, and I liked the art, but this was when Ellis "lost a hard drive in a flood" and killed everything he was doing at the time.
>>153531090this was cuz they had an issue with image, didn't they?and the nothing, even tho they should own all the rights, they just said"aah fuck our readers"
>>153531113So after the first six issues is a good stopping point?
im bumping this thread
>>1535210591963 and Supreme ending the ways they did cemented my hatred for Moore
>>153530831>Keown laments what marvel's done with Hulk in the last decade>Still spends his days drunk off his ass shitposting instead of making comicsIt hurts
>13 years have passed>volume 2 still hasnt seen the light of day>nobody involved even talks about the comic anymore
>>153532150Why?
>Scream: Curse of CarnageHad the misfortune of coming out early 2020. After it got canned, Andi had to kill off the Scream symbiote, then became basically Scream Anti-Venom, and has only made one or two brief appearances after several years since.
>>153526093
>>153521059does self canceled count?
>>153534122ye
>>153532280HOLY SHIT IT'S MARY JANE
>>153530393Wish I knew, anon.
>>153521059>Steve gerberI see. Makes sense. I wanted to enjoy Omega the Unknown, he deliberately sabotaged it and it's kinda shit. I know editorial gave him a bunch of demands, but come on, you couldn't of at least made the book good out of spite?
>>153532150>SupremeFor that one it wasn't entirely his fault, though he was admittedly eager to move on to more stable business arrangements.>1963For this one what he did wasn't right, but he wasn't wrong for why.Curious how after he left Supreme and Liefeld amidst the Awesome Comics debacle he got in bed with Jim Lee for ABC despite the 1963 matter, only for Jim to then bring Moore's old ex-DC between the sheets.Just one long series of sordid karmatics.
I always thought Snotgirl was decent and had potential. They said it would come back in a 5th volume as a trade, but I think it's done. They had some great art, fanservice, and maybe a mysterious story, but taking over 10 years to intermittently release books isn't great for distribution or sales. The lesbian sex carried it to some kind of weird never-end, I guess.
>>153534243>I wanted to enjoy Omega the UnknownFor what purpose?
>>153531636Yeah, I think only 2 issues of the second run came out. The art was a big step down, but the premise seemed interesting.
