great show, though it did decline in quality later on. i like daria very much but i never actually related to her in any way, it was just quite curious to look into the mind of a cynical young woman going through life looking down on everyone. i like egotistical girls like that. growing up i encountered a lot of people like daria in new england catholic girls' schools, misanthropic and thought they were deep for having no friends and reading the bible every day. i wonder why you never really meet women like this in the modern period.

I preferred her character in Beavis and Butthead (at least what we got of it).
The fact that she was a natural friend to Beavis and Butthead, because they connected as outsiders, in spite of her being smart and presentable, and them being Beavis and Butthead.
That's such a particular kind of person you meet in real life.

The point of the show wasn't that Daria was super smart while everybody around her was dumb. The point was that Daria 'thought' she was super smart but every time she got to know one of the people around her she found out they had actual depth whereas her character was the shallow, vapid one because she though that hating things was a substitute for a real personality.
