Do the Eds scam because they don't get any allowance?
>>
>>153525802
Yeah. Ed is the unfavorite child, so his parents don't give him money; Double D's parents are workaholics that expect a lot from their son, so they expect him to earn his way; and Eddy's parents are pretty strict and probably don't think he's earned the right to an allowance (or they're the type of middle-class where they live paycheck to paycheck and "can't afford" to give Eddy an allowance).
>>
>>153525802
It’s because they’re American
>>
>>153525852
For Double D, I would bet his parents just outright buy what he wants or needs while simultaneously eliminating him having true financial independence with an allowance. "Can't have our young Edward buying snacks and candy on his own. If he wants something sweet he can have fruit. That's what we bought it for."

They scam because Eddy is trying to be cool by emulating his brother or something.
The other two go along with it because Ed is retarded and Edd is a pussy.
>>
>>153525802
We see in an early episode that Ed's parents pay him to babysit Sarah. He probably just spends his allowance on his comic books and horror movies.
>>
Why didn't they always just pay the kankers a bribe to leave them alone like in the one episode?

>Why didn't they just
WHY DON'T YOU JUST GO FUCK YOURSELF

Which episode was that?

Never mind, I forgot about the treasure map episode

What, and ruin the plot?
>>
>>153530895
If they had money, they'd use it for jawbreakers. At no point would Eddy allow his hard earned cash to be used for anything else, with the exception of maybe seeing a movie with his friends.
>>
>>153525802
That's a pretty sound theory.
>>
>>153525802
The Ed’s represent a trio of Italian-jewish boys. Ed is the most Italian. Eddy is the most jewish. Double D is the perfect mixture.
>>
>>153530895
The bribe would just be them kissing the eds
>>
I've always seen Double D's parents as being rich. Not sure why he lives in the cul-de-sac if that were the case, but he's got all sorts of science and educational tools and books and those can't be cheap. And while it never happened in the show I imagine he has a lot of extra lessons and maybe even tutors? Someone taught him how to sew and play music at the very least.

Ed confuses me. For someone whose parents clearly don't care (the blatant favoritism shown to his sister, he lives in the basement, filthy mold and rotten everything, he doesn't bathe) he has a lot of collectables and comic books. How did he get these?

I think Eddy does get an allowance; he just spends it all on gaudy 70s garbage. Maybe it's even a substantial allowance, and that's why he has to scheme to get money from the rest of the kids - he already gets so much from mom and pop that they're not willing to shell out more for candy.

Eddy gets hand me downs from his older brother and dad most likely.
His bro's room was full of even weirder shit like the stuffed camel and entire car.

That’s probably cheap, old stuff
>>
>>153525802
cogito ergo fraudo: I think, therefore I scam.
>>
>>153534747
Ed probably got all that stuff from his dad, since the company who makes some of the comics he has are defunct
>>
>>153525852
It's vaguely implied that Eddy's parents know he worships his faggot brother and don't really know how to convince him not to except by being disciplinarians.
>>
>>153525852
Ed and Double are implied to have allowances but Ed spends it on gravy and comics and Double saves his money.

They do it for the love of the game
>>
Careful asking those questions now, or Tim Burton will reimagine the series where jawbreakers are a drug analogy and half the characters are imaginary.
>>
>>153536486
That one super flanderized school era episode where he’s obsessed with gravy and has a gravy catalogue pissed me off as a kid and still does now. Jesus fucking Christ, they were all annoying in that episode. Eddy deserved to win the bet.
>>
>>153525802
Half of the time their actions aren’t even scams. They open genuine businesses like the tube ride.
>>
>>153527808
both ed and double d wanted jawbreakers too

They do it to fuel Eddy’s ego. Though Double D has a morning paper route, and Ed gets paid to babysit his little sister. Really, Eddy I can imagine doesn’t have of an allowance since his dad is probably the “pull yourself up by the bootstraps” kind of parent. It’s probably why the original “scams” took the form of jobs and services around the neighborhood rather than actual ripping people off.
