>"Isn't the idea of a 4th Toy Story movie ridiculous? Why would they ever even try to continue the series past Toy Story 3? The mere concept is a joke."
>The sixth Toy Story movie is about to come out with the promise of more on the way
You can't make this shit up.
>>
sixth? are we counting the buzz lightyear trainwreck?
>>
>>153530388
Lightyear and Toy Story 4 shouldn't have even been made. They are so deeply joyless to a level that is almost hilarious. The trailer of Toy Story 5 was better than those 2 films, and that makes me uncomfortable to say. I think Toy Story 5 (based on the trailer) will be a 'decent' film, but at the same time... Like it's fucking Toy Story 5, it's just going to be a pastiche of the same stuff again.
>>
>>153530341
People crave for the slop
>>
I thought 4 was nice
>>
>>153530341
If they keep these sequels 1 decade apart they might get away with this. There will always be a 10 year old who turns 20 by the next film, and a 20 year old who turns 30 and now has kids.
>>
>>153530388
We are. It may be a spin-off but it's still a Toy Story movie.
>>
>>153530742
But I want money NOW!
>>
what did they even mean 'Tom Hanks make Toy Story 4'? He doesn't 'make' the movies, he just stars in them
>>
>>153532545
They meant that they (Disney) were waiting for Tom Hanks in order for them (Disney) to start making Toy Story 4, as if he hadn't signed on yet and he was the last piece they (Disney) needed before starting.
>>
>>153530604
On a technical level, Toy Story 4 was very well made. Solid writing, acting, etc. Forky is a fun enough character. Overall, though... yeah, it was completely unnecessary. And don't even get me started on Lightyear...
>>
>>153534198
Lightyear sucked because modern Hollywood is deathly afraid of pulp
>>
>>153534843
"This is the movie Andy saw as a child!" which would mean the movie is from the 80s or 90s, but Lightyear is actually some weird, grim, boring ass "Interstellar for kids" instead of the space-faring adventure - think Star Wars, mixed in with the Lost In Space movie and the first Power Rangers movie - that it would actually be. There's no spaceship battles, no monsters, no alien members among Buzz's team (not even a lame one like 'human with pointy ears' or 'human with green/blue skin'), and Zurg's not even a fucking evil emperor. Why the fuck would Andy like this movie? This doesn't even feel like a movie that would HAVE an accompanying toyline.

>Buzz acts like an idiot
>Bo Beep is not the same character anymore, even in flashbacks
>Rest of the cast might as well not exist
>Whole premise hinges in Bonnie not caring about Woody anymore, despite her prominently playing with him in one of the scenes of the road trip montage
>Dolly turns from an affable character into a nagging hag
>Solid writing

>>
>>153535519
In my defense, I also haven't watched it since one time while it was still in theaters. I remembered it being fairly good.
>>
>>153534198
>Toy Story 4
>Solid writing
Ahem, today I'll remind them https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U__oaZ9FiXM
>>
>technology bad!

They couldn't come up with anything more original, didn't they?
>>
>>153535800
The worst part is that they already did it in one of the Toy Story TV episodes.
GOD I hate Bonnie so much.
>>
>>153535831
Bonnie's fine. It's Disney's greed you should despise.
>>
excuse me how are more stories after Toy Story 3 impossible?
the toys only changed owners in a series that was never about the owners.
>>
>>153535636
You’re very clearly invested in this topic and I won’t call you autistic because you’ve managed to intrigue me, based on your dedication you’ve definitely watched other videos about this so can you send one that isn’t 6 fucking hours long and I can sperg along you without needing almost a third of my day occupied by it? Thanks. Also I’m lazy and fat and don’t use YouTube so I’m not looking myself if someone suggests that!
>>
>>153536269
There's other videos but none of them stuck on my mind except the one with the guy and his righteous fury spending 6 hours bringing Toy Story 4 to justice for it's crime of violently sodomizing my childhood. If that's too much, then the points brought by this anon >>153535519
are good enough tl;dw
>>
>>153535800
>>153535831
It's literally the same premise of the first movie too.
>>
>>153536269
You don't need to watch all 6 hours, just pick a chapter and watch that. Here, the Buzz character assassination chapter is like 15 minutes, 7 if you watch at 2x speed https://youtu.be/U__oaZ9FiXM?t=9252
>>
>>153534198
Thanks CoPilot.
Funny that the only thing you dont mention that is actually does well is the technical and graphical fidelity aspects. But Ill give you acting.
>>
>>153536342
Andy owned toys with batteries before Cuck Midyear
>>
The real problem is the people who eat this shit up.

Who here has actually seen Toy Story 4? If you have you're retarded and your economic decisions are the doom of us all.
>>
>>153536543
I didn't and don't plan to. However, average viewer doesn't care , they see familiar faces and instantly want to see the thing. Also they're always GASP surprised by a twist villain
>>
I've been of the opinion that Toy Stories world is one that shouldn't be dwelled on. Like, the longer you stay in the world, the more the likelyhood of questions arising.
Like, what are the rules to the toys to follow and what makes a toy a toy like the question posited in 4.
Also, in 4 it was revealed that Woody is from the '50s. Now, the idea was rather apparent in 2, but Woody pretty much confirmed it in 4. Which makes me wonder why did an otherwise '90s kid have a virtually intact '50s toy. It could have been from his grandfather, who had to have been a father early in his life, or his father if he had Andy at an older age. For that matter, why doesn't Woody not seemingly have much memory of Andy's father or grandfather if he is a hand-me-down. Why doesn't he have all that much more experience than any of the other toys if he had been around since the '50s?

It's a kid's movie don't think too hard about it!
>>
>>153536582
lol I can already see the stupid frog tablet being the decoy villain and the stupid talking toilet paper holder voiced by Cucknan O'Brien being the secret tweeeest villain all along. Pee-xar is so predictable now.
>>
>>153536613
>Which makes me wonder why did an otherwise '90s kid have a virtually intact '50s toy.
It wasn't uncommon, I was a kid in the 1990s and at some point my dad gave me his Looney Tunes toys and Tonka trucks from the 1960s and they were nearly intact, but I'm a retard and didn't took care of them.
>>
>>153535302
>instead of the space-faring adventure - think Star Wars, mixed in with the Lost In Space movie and the first Power Rangers movie - that it would actually be
Why not just an extension of the cartoon show
>>
>>153536658
I was referring more to the overall vibe and aesthetic of the movie rather than the literal content in it, but to answer your question, Pixar famously hates the Star Command show because Disney made it entirely without them.
>>
>>153536543
What if I saw it for free? Is that okay?
>>
>>153535831
But i am a battlesaur!
>>
So why was Andy allowed (made?) to age to adulthood naturally along with the movies, but Bonnie is still seven or so even after sixteen years?
>>
>>153537430
Same reason Gru's girls will never grow.
>>
>>153537430
I hadn't even thought about this until this post. Huh.
>>
>>153537487
Isn't that series just consistently not running on our clock? Andy aging originally reflected real time.
>>
>>153535831
This special really made me think this series was in better hands...
>>
>>153537511
It was, it was meant to be a trilogy with occasional shorts.
>>
>>153535302
"The toys are based on the sequel actually, that had the real emperor zurg"

"No, you may not see the sequel."
>>
>>153535302
>"This is the movie Andy saw as a child!"
This must have been tacked on late in development.
>>
>>153537859
Who would allow him watch such pro LGBT propaganda?
>>
>>153530604
I don't see it as unnecessary. It was to sun set the character Woody in a similar way Andy way sun set in Toy Story 3. Woody was supposed to live forever as a lost toy helping other lost toys. We get to see the end of his toy career. I think that's justification enough for the movie. Toy Story 5 seems to be just kinda nothing. Just Tablet bad.
>>
>>153534198
>Solid writing
>>
>>153535302
If they really wanted to frame it as a movie Andy watched, they should have just had it be a reboot he went to see when he was older.
They never would have done it, but bonus points if they did a short extra scene at the end of Andy walking out and saying he liked the original better.
>>
The honest answer is we never needed anything after Toy Story 1
>>
>>153537071
You can pirate whatever the fuck you want. So long as you don't give people money for their cash-in slop.
>>
>>153537430
Because they know people don't care about Bonnie so there's no reason to try
>>
>>153536613
>For that matter, why doesn't Woody not seemingly have much memory of Andy's father or grandfather if he is a hand-me-down.
He has Alzheimer's.

Same. I rewatched Toy Story 4 not too long ago, and while it was unnecessary, I do think they made a decent movie in the end.
>>
>>153538615
Not even 2, anon? Toy Story 2's really good.
