Why does /co/ only care for Batman: the animated series. Did you not enjoy Batman (2004)?

I enjoyed it, I just wish it focused more on some of the other villains instead of giving the Joker at least two episodes a season.
>>
>>153530485
Only for its version of Harley, she acts like a total honeybun

Im more of a BatB kinda guy myself
>>
>>153530485
We also like Beyond and Brave and the Bold
>>
>>153530485
This show was interesting because Babs was introduced first and had to earn Bruce's trust.
>>
>>153530485
I think it did core villains badly (Aside from Mister Freeze, he was cool as fuck) but had very strong takes on one-shot or C-list villains. I especially like the Batman’s Mirror Master.

It’s original catalogue was also strong: Everyman, Rumor, the Checkpoint Guy.
>>
>>153530485
That one season where they introduced Robin was cool. /co/ crying over "monkey joker" kinda ruined it for me.
>>
>>153530485
Preferred this over TAS
TAS felt like Bruce was written to be like a fucking teacher talking to the kids watching it. I liked maybe 3-4 episodes as a kid (yes I'm an oldfag) but mostly found it boring.
>>
>>153530485
I am.
Years ago I dropped it because the theme song change pissed me off. Now I'm giving it a second chance and season 3 is really fun so far. Hell, I don't even hate the new intro like I used to.
I just think it's a shame they wrote off detective Yin. I liked her. Maybe she comes back later. Let's see.

I think of all the robot villains that Batman has faced over the years, D.A.V.E. is the best one. He even works as a modern day critique of AI as something that can only reiterate on what came before.
>>
>>153530485
I enjoyed Barbara

One example of missed potential is that the season 3 episode “The Apprentice” should have gone to Catwoman. I mean the previous episode where they both appeared in had the plot point that Catwoman was open to getting a sidekick. Batman even gives Catgirl a name drop, which could been perfect foreshadowing.
>>
>>153531051
Make me appreciate The Batman version of Harley Quinn than the main Harley Quinn.
>>153530485
The Batman is a good and fun action show as it feels like an Ultimate version of Batman, but the problem with The Batman is that it's too kiddie and safe, and focus on action instead of dark theme and retro noir stuff. Plus, the DCAU Justice League Unlimited is still running at the same and people enjoys more of that than The Batman show.

After Arleen Sorkin, they should have kept Hynden Walch as the main voice of Harley Quinn. She is way better than Tara Strong’s version of the character.
>>
>>153533260
Oh absolute. I fine her pretty hot as she reminds me of how I missed the old Harley Quinn.

The Batman is dark

I actually really ddo like this show theres just some episodes where its a bit of a toy commercial, some villains have lamer variants than others, it doesnt have stand out more serious episodes. Basically if you liked the original Batman TAS theres not much a reason to watch it, it just doesnt stand out enough. Whereas something like Brave and the Bold is still worth watching today. But I do like the sleek art style and use of batgirl. Also I think thiss catwoman iss really hot.
I think they nailed her. Shes extremely erotic and well done I enjoy her episodes the most. There was also a tie in comic run called The Batman Strikes that was decent too.

>Be me
>Wants to watch the DC Animated shows
>HBO Max removes them because they want licensing money

And this is why we pirate. I need a new hard drive.......
>>
>>153531305
I agree this show does batgirl and robin relationship a lot better
>>
>>153533971
the time has come to start archiving everything you like

What would catgirl look like?

I like most designs for the show, with only a few misses. Some of them give me old Capcom vibes. Show used Penguin too much, wish some villains got more attention.
>>
>>153534073
I like Batgirl being younger than them lol something funny about it
>>
>>153534094
Her and Ivy being former friends and roughly the same age was an interesting choice, probably a result of them not being allowed to use Robin until Season 4.
>>
>>153534172
yea its fresh and having just batman and Batgirl feels unique retroactively too.

I think Kitrina Falcone’s design Catgirl design would work pretty well for the show.
>>
>>153533866
No it's not. It feels like Spider-Man show but in a batman costume.
>>
>>153534462
So? That’s not a right excuse

I think you are wrong

The most interesting thing about this version of Catwoman is that Batman never catches her or uncovers her identity. I don’t think any other villain from a Batman adaptation has pulled this feat off.
>>
>>153530485
Hot take:
The art direction for Batman 04 is stronger than Batman TAS.
Yeah, I fucking said it.
>>
>>153535015
Anon.
Its a kids show.
The sexual tension would be so thick a blind person would see it.
>>
>>153535102
i'm pretty sure the same guy that did the teen titans animated series also did this.
>>
>>153535146
Glen Murakami? Looks like he was a producer, but the styles aren't too far apart.
>>
>>153535146
He was only a “producer” in the sense that they needed a proven name in the earlier seasons in case something went wrong. Bruce Timm also did the same in Teen Titans, despite being barely involved in that too

>>153536546
The art director was Jeff Matsuda. Jose Lopez and Thomas Perkins also did designs.
>>
>>153531024
For me it was Penguin getting too much attention.
>>
>>153530485
The firefly and freeze episode was fun
>>
Justice League Unlimited premiered in 2004 too. Of course it isn't going to stand the test of time when it is compared to its contemporaries. It may have had some of the 'real' voices for the characters, but it was nowhere near as good as the DCAU series.
>>
>>153536629
Firefly and Freeze both had my favorite villain designs in the whole show

Giving Firefly a more bug like mask and a giant flamethrower/jetpack like a firefly's abdomen was inspired
And Freeze just looked cool
>>
>>153530485
I like it, just not as much as the B:tAS.

I really enjoyed the dynamic of Batman and Batgirl, that was an unexpectedly cool creative choice and it was cool how sleek they made Batman. Also the Dracula movie was awesome
>>
Clayface being bruce childhood friend was a good plot point and his eventual redemption too
>>
>>153536703
Both are good in their own way, but BTAS really set the bar. Anything that comes after it will be compared. The Dracula move was cool, it was able to get away with more. Kinda wish the series got another movie to see what else they could get away with.
>>
>>153531024
would've liked to see Riddler more tbqh
>>
>>153534507
Yeah it is. Otherwise, people would talk more and it would been as successful like Batman TAS.
>>153536689
I like Firefly's design it reminds me of The Beetle, and I do love Mr. Freeze design also but hated his motive as he's more like Silver Age's Freeze.
>>
>>153536732
He's juat a stand in for Two-Face.

No. I was like 22 when 'The Batman' came out and it skewed too young for me.
>>
>>153536732
Redemptive character Clayface is a way better concept than horror Clayface.

Meanwhile, upcoming Warner Bros movies...

The best toy based idea was the Bat-Mech. It was the one that was used the most, showed up in the next animated series, and has been used several times in the comics.

>>
>>153530485
I preferred it, actually.

Conroy is overrated and this Batman didn't fuck Barbara / cuck his adoptive son.
>>
>>153530485
No because it was a shallow toy commercial with occasional good moments. It’s just propped up now because of nostalgia, plus the action-driven approach is popular with zoomers who love hype moments and aura and don’t care about good writing and storytelling.
>>
>>153530485
It sorta shit the bed from the beginning with the Hawaii 5-0 wannabe theme song, everybody being a martial artist, and a lot of plots just being boring. I hear it got better later, but I wasn't around for that. I DID go back and check out that Terrible Trio episode. Seemed decent, nice that they were actually spliced instead of just wearing masks.
