Why wasn't Super Robot Monkey as popular as other anime influenced shows like Avatar and Teen Titans? I get that it was on Jetix, which wasn't as big as Nick or CN, but the series was on YouTube in 3 parts and even then, it didn't get popular in the anime community, where as Avatar, Teen Titans and even stuff like Code Lyoko and I think Xiaolin were popular in the anime community. Monkey had a small cult following, but that didn't seem to overlap that much with the anime community.
>>153536769Hell, Gravity Falls and Adventure Time were way more popular in the anime community and those two didn't have any anime influences at all.
>>153536769Was there a reason why even stuff that never aired on TV in america like Mermaid Melody, Fruits Basket, Ouran and Shugo Chara were bigger in the YouTube 3 parts era than Super Robot Monkey?
>>153536769>Why wasn't Super Robot Monkey as popular as other anime influenced shows like Avatar and Teen Titans?Because, and yeah, sorry to say it this way, it just wasn’t as good or groundbreaking as you keep trying to convince /co/ it was.It was a decent show, had a solid run, and built a following, which should be enough even if you never got a proper finale.
>>153536769Lol I dunno
>>153536769>I get that it was on Jetix, which wasn't as big as Nick or CN,You just answered your own question. Outside of Power Rangers/Digimon fanboys, Nobody really knew fuck all about Jetix, let alone what channels it was on. Had this show been on Disney Channel or ABC (which is free) there'd be a lot more viewers.
>>153537996Wasn't Jetix on ABC Family, which was just as available as Disney Channel and seemed popular among teenage girls, mostly airing reruns of sitcoms like Sabrina and Full House?
>>153538287and yes, ABC Family was basic cable. It was Toon Disney that was expensive premium cable and by the time Jetix became a Toon Disney exclusive, Monkey Team was about to end.
>>153536769no one wants to associate themselves as monkey back then. it was the ick
>>153538361Shut up, tard
>>153537996Actually. ABC Kids was supposed to broadcast SRMTHFG late in the show's run as part of the 2005 season of the block. That season came and went and Super Robot Monkey never aired on ABC Kids. I can assume WITCH probably had a hand in SRMTHFG plans for an ABC broadcast (WITCH ended up shown late in the block's runtime, at 12:00 P.M to be exact, tanking hard compare to the other shows, and since SRMTHFG was also on Jetix and was about to air on ABC Kids, those plans fell through in the end). Then, ABC Kids went downhill 2 years later with the block being rerun filler for the FCC.
>>153537996Batman: The Animated Series, Superman: The Animated Series, Power Rangers, Digimon, X-Men, Spider-Man, Pinky and the Brain, The Tick, Jackie Chan Adventures and Gargoyles are all incredibly well known shows, even beyond having a cult following. I've seen tons of people who know what they are and they were the biggest shows on Jetix.
>>153536786People got into new anime via the manga coming out in English, the internet, and fans subscribing to anime magazines.
>>153538361>laughs in Donkey Kong.
>>153536769The show lacked a solid hook really, just look at that clusterfuck title. The show itself felt like a melting pot of a bunch of different 60s sci fi and sentai. And sentai itself is a pretty niche genre for western audiences and can come off cringe to outsiders who aren’t familiar with the genre. The art style wasn’t good enough to carry it either. Look at this Bender looking ass mecha. Even by western cartoon standards he looks phoned in. >b-but he splits into vehicles!!!still looks awful.
>>153536769I assume it was easier for kids to watch CN and Nick than a block like Jetix, thus it sort of flew under the radar despite lasting for four seasons. (But sadly no proper finale)I was definitely hooked on the show as a kid and it held up greatly as an adult. Consistently great from beginning to end, had a perfect Y2K aesthetic, and got surprisingly dark at times. Also, Jinmay is absolutely adorable!
>>153539810Fuck you, I liked it.
>>153539949Doesn't change the fact the anon is ri->>153539810>different 60s sci fi and sentai>sentaiNever mind, it's likely just OP copypasting to keep the thread alive.
>>153536769Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go! came out in the early 2000s, so American audiences must've still been a little hesitant towards anime-esque works like that. It's my guess, at least.
>>153538496Reruns don't count, anon.
>>153541474Y U So Dumb?
>>153539820I loved her, kinda had a crush on her too. Was honestly disappointed the show never explored her origins nor her character beyond being the MC's girl.
>>153543057?
>>153538361OOH OOH AHH AH
>>153547260stupidmonkey
>>153544544If they ever bring this show back for a fifth season or a movie, they really better make Jinmay the deuteragonist.
>>153536769Have you watched it lately? The actual writing is terrible. Episodes play out like a fever dream
>>153549245Fuck off.
>>153539820Aurora Six was better
Chiro is a store-brand creamsicle 009.
This show scared me too much as a kid so I didn't watch it.
>>153536769Look at your pic. It's just ugly looking
>tfw people actually hate the showThey’re probably just trolls but it greatly disappoints me to know this since I thought it was such a cool and well-written series with beautifully-done art.
>>153549751>They’re probably just trollsOr just OP desperate to stir discussion and keep his thread on life support, but we might never know.
>>153549807Probably that too. Anyone who hates SRMTHFG needs serious mental therapy.
>>153539810>sentai itself is a pretty niche genre There's still plenty of nostalgiafagging for MMPR.
>>153536769mouthful of a title
>>153549646What about it was any scarier than your Batman or Ben 10 cartoons at the time?
>>153539820>>153549413This show had some really attractive girls in general.
