>Wait, Optimus! Remember the Gen-ACK!
>wait!> just because we’re robots fighting a war we’re not supposed to actually KILL each other!

>>153540982Sort of funny how the character obsessed with a might makes right philosophy always gets mogged by the character that advocates kindess, compassion, and freedom for all sentient beings.
>>153541962Tell that to Mr. Bay.
>>153542008Bay just recognized and corrected the inconsistency. You can't win by extending mercy and compassion to those who are against it. You have to just kill those people.Heck, even the 1986 movie understood this. Optimus called out Megatron on exactly this as he was about to kill him, before Hot Rod bungled it up.
>>153542069Hot Rod saw Megatron reaching while Prime hesitated.
>>153542069>You can't win by extending mercy and compassion to those who are against it.Optimus never extended mercy or compassion to Decepticons. He extended it to humans and other creatures/life forms that he first encountered, but if that life form had used their power to oppress others unjustly, he would stomp their ass into the ground. That is perfectly logically consistent. If anything, Bay misunderstood Optimus' character to a severe degree as he is constantly forced to hold the idiot ball and placate human characters and institutions who have shown themselves to be untrustworthy.
>>153540982>Fuck you con!Damn Optimus
>>153541566why was IDW so gay and lame?
>>153543737idk, clanka. I only read Last Bot Standing and I don't look into the people behind it.
>>153541566>>153543989>Waddlepop was originally slated to appear in Last Bot Standing as a member of Steeljaw's remnant faction. However, Hasbro informed Nick Roche that the BotBots were off-limits, and as a result Roche replaced Waddlepop with Moon instead.
>>153541962Because transformer villains suck desu
>>153543737>why was IDW so gay and lame?>introduce one gay Transformer couple>gays and fujos swarm onto the book like sharks when there's blood in the water>IDW Transformers books were low-selling books, it's easy enough for the new audience to drown out the old one>you get Twitter Good Boy points and award nominations for pandering to the new audience tooIt didn't take long for the writers to start listening to perverts on Twitter and thinking they were the majority of the audience.
>>153546709they actually swarmed to the book because it was, you know, GOOD. MTMTE came out after long lull in IDW TF book quality.
>>153547543that story about IDW at BotCon 2011 will always make me laugh
>>153547583what story?
>>153547606too busy to type it out now, if the thread survives till later i willbasically, IDW utterly failed to read the room in what people would be interested in
>>153543737say what you want about it but it's based for bringing moon back.
>>153547606>>153547641Okay, so, BotCon 2011 was around the time that IDW was finishing up their "Ongoing" series, (which was preceded by All Hail Megatron) and getting into their Chaos event, so people were going into the IDW panel with VERY lukewarm opinions about them.IDW decides to ask the panel audience: What would you rather have: A), more Transformers Animated comics (of which there were only six issues at the time), or B), a 80's G1 Marvel continuation series written by Simon Furman OMG??!!?!?!?. The audience ERUPTED at the prospect of more TFA comics and did not give two shits about the Marvel #81, which was the opposite of what the IDW were expecting, considering that this was their way of announcing ReGeneration One. Apparently one of the guys up on stage just went "Oh." at the audience reaction. It was stupid to ask this type of question at all, because you're going to disappoint at least some of the crowd by suggesting something you had no intention of making. It was stupid to bait people with more TFA content, seeing how popular the series was and that it was very famously cancelled with important untold stories to tell. It was stupid to try to pitch more TFA content against yet ANOTHER Marvel comics continuation, as it already had three previous ones. But the stupidest, most mind-baffling part of this needless completion between TFA and ReGeneration One was that IDW tried it during BotCon 2011. The convention themed around TFA. ReGeneration One later turned out to be a big nothingburger of a series anyways.
>>153542069That's sort of why I liked this moment in DotM. I think those movies are trash, but that was one Prime of Murder bit that at least felt more in line with the Optimus of old to me. Not that far afield from him saying 'I thought you were made of sterner stuff' before clearly gearing up to blow Megatron's head off. I might just like it whenever any version of Optimus tells their Megatron to go fuck himself though.
>>153549983>They made my boy Dragstrip a w*manI blame not just botcon and idw but also Obama
bump
>>153551302There's actually a long, drawn out, logical list of reasons why they did girl Drag Strip, and it has nothing to do with the name. Besides, it's cool.
>>153551302IDW had literally nothing to do with it, btw.
>>153551302What are your favorite Dragstrip moments? what do you like about his character?
>>153541368nice work, Ravage
>>153542069alright Bibi calm down
>>153551302There only so many car molds for the TFA line. Unless you wanted two retools of Jazz or Hot Rod.
>>153551302>>153552564>>153552931The TFA Stunticon team had to be 1 voyager-class figure and 4 deluxe-class figures, to keep with the size difference of the original G1 team. Motormaster's mold reuse choice is obvious: Optimus Prime, the truck. The 4 deluxes all needed to be cars. There were 6 deluxe-class car molds in the TFA toyline: Bumblebee, Jazz, Blurr, Rodimus, Arcee, and Lockdown.- Dead End used the Jazz mold, since G1 Dead End and G1 Jazz both transformed in Porsches.- One of the other BotCon toys was Sideswipe done using the Rodimus mold, since they both use the same hood-as-flat-chest transformation. G1 Sideswipe and G1 Brakedown both transform into Lamborghinis, so the Rodimus mold was used for TFA Brakedown as well.- Wildrider just got the Lockdown mold because it fit his personality, and the mold wouldn't have fit Drag Strip's race car needs.- That leaves Drag Strip with Bumblebee, Blurr, or Arcee. They can't use Bumblebee, since making one yellow character out of another would be lazy. They also can't use Blurr for the same reason, despite Blurr's speedy design. The Blurr mold had been used to make TFA Cheetor as a concurrant mail-away club purchase, since TFA Blurr's design was heavily inspired by Cheetor's TransTech concept art. There's already a yellow Blurr mold toy. That leaves the Arcee mold, which is very sleek and speedy-looking, perfect for Drag Strip.
Literally none of the "let's make this character a girl now!!!" movements worked. Make it a separate character and it can work. As it stands, all of them are shittier versions of the previous characters
>>153552564Its not cool and hasbro not having enough budget is bullshit, shouldve gave the mold a bigger set of wheels and removed bits of the leg plastic for the open wheel effect (they coulve also added a detachable front spoiler that turns into axes or something by using pegs on the front of the car\inside of the legs)Botcon couldve done it cheaper if they knew a guy with a 3d printer >>153552706I know but fuck em still>>153552792Rumble driving his fetus was funny, europa 5000 episode was aight and I just enjoy archetype of ultra dickhead athletes\racers,they are funny, like ben stiller in that dodgeball movieHe is also yellow and styled after tyrell p34 which is really fucking cool and epitome of f1 at its prime with weird rule bending cars, experimental tech and fiery death at every cornerI also like that he has a chromed lego piece on his chest for some reason>>153552931Which couldve been remedied by adding few bits to one of them or just using blurr, blurr looks far faster than arcee mold>>153552963Well that sucks, why did they make cheetor (other than transtech connection) when there was only waspinator ?
>>153553148you are both objectively and subjectively incorrect
>>153553148They did that to my nigga Skywarp in troonsparkShouldve been starscream, thundercr*cker or slipstream
>>153553223>shouldve gave the mold a bigger set of wheels and removed bits of the leg plastic for the open wheel effect (they coulve also added a detachable front spoiler that turns into axes or something by using pegs on the front of the car\inside of the legs)literally what the fuck are you talking about>Well that sucks, why did they make cheetor (other than transtech connection) when there was only waspinator ?literally what the fuck are you talking about
>>153541566>>153543989>Nick Roche being unable to use a BotBot character resulted in the only piece of gay Moon porn to be createdmakes you think
>>153553236Cyberverse did it first
>>153553260So you dont know ?>>153553272Fuck em too then
>>153541525i still don't get why people threw a fuss over this
>>153553338Breaks the geneva convention. He was surrendering and unarmed.
>>153553359Anon they litteraly didnt sign geneva convention
>>153553223>Its not cool and hasbro not having enough budget is bullshit, shouldve gave the mold a bigger set of wheels and removed bits of the leg plastic for the open wheel effect (they coulve also added a detachable front spoiler that turns into axes or something by using pegs on the front of the car\inside of the legs)Botcon exclusives barely did remolds on that level, you mostly got new heads and that's about it. Thrust's wings a couple years before was probably the most involved remold they did and that ate up most of the budget. >Botcon couldve done it cheaper if they knew a guy with a 3d printerAnon this was 2011. 3D printing was still on the cusp of being widespread.
>>153553148Dragstrip is barely a character anon, one of the stand out things of him is apparently having chrome plating on his chest.
>>153553482Work with a 3rd party company and make it the highlight of botcon setsThey made ultra magnus a trailer like 3 years before that and it was the start of 3rd party If your convention revolves around one franchise there is enough of a market to attempt itNot to mention that tf people will buy several of the same figure if it has diffrent paint
>>153553539>3rd party>2011 >BotconAnon please stop poking in the dark, I'm gonna guess you weren't an active fan in those years.
>>153553359he destroyed a city and was about to kill Optimus
>>153553300I might know, but I genuinely don't understand what you're trying to communicate here. You need to type more coherently.
>>153553359First all, the Transformers are just straight-up not beholden to to the Geneva Conventions. That's not how that works.Second of all, people often forget that right before Optimus kills him, Megatron outright states that his proposed truce would be only if he was in charge of everything, right after he atyacked Earth and tried to enslave humanity. Prime said "yeah, no" to that.
>>153553539You're an idiot for multiple reasons.
>>153553771Oh, wait, we're talking about Sentinel, not Megatron. Geneva thing still applies. Killing Sentinel was a punishment for his crimes (invasion, murders, treason).
>>153553539You either get the official convention license from Hasbro or you go 3P, you can’t do both, and in 2011 wholly original 3P figures were still in the early stages. Now you do have unofficial conventions that will have exclusive 3P toys, but rarely whole new molds because that’s a ton of money to dedicate to a small run. It’s why Botcon toys, even while having official support, only really made slight remolds of existing molds
>>153553223Is English your first language?
>>153553846Yeah but he was like begging for it. I guess I don't really like seeing characters unable to fight back being murdered
>>153554166Killing active combatants in war isn't murder.
>>153551898
>>153553148>Except that one time it became the defining version of the character
>>153557661>Someone felt the need to give this alien robot sexy-as-fuck DSLs.
>>153557661>>153558461Strongarm, my beloved.
>>153558532She's a cutie.
>>153557661So your counterexample was a name reuse that otherwise was a completely unrelated character?
>>153559111Was there a requirement it couldn't? If I mentioned Haywire reinvented into White Lune in the Legends manga or Nitro Convoy turned into Override for western audiences would you say it didn't count because it's a "lost in translation" type deal. Regardless Strongarm IS my best example because she's the only one that matters in the show she's in. The rest are based on characters with shallow personalities and never evolve on that when they're designed as a woman.
>>153553539you can save yourself some embarrassment if you just admit you're 14 rather than us all continuing to assume you're actually retarded
>>153559767Weird. I thought you would use Override as an example because G1 Override has been barely touched.
>>153550771No, why are you gay.>>153553375Piss off, sperg.
