RS was originally also done in part with Rough Draft Korea iirc and info about a Lost Tapes panel in Mexico said that Quintel confirmed it's still hand-drawn, but that feels pretty minimal in all the content we've seen if anything.If there is any hand-drawn left in Lost Tapes it's being actively killed by Saerom translating it to digital, and I'm not even sure how that's possible. My understanding is that actual modern hand-drawn animation is still done on paper but then translated with the linework to digital, and then digitally colored. How are they losing all the hand-drawn frames? Every character is constantly in their stock poses and heads unless attempted to digitally morph it.

>>153544488I'm not sure about the writing quality but the visuals are really hampering the impact of the show. A lot of the time it feels like one of those shitty modern Nickelodeon cartoons like Henry Danger or Rock Paper Scissors. If animation is something you have an eye for at all, the digital "rigged" look for Regular Show specifically will break your immersion. A lot of the time the characters don't even feel alive, it's the same feeling you'd get seeing an old 2010's flash game ad, you're not thinking "oh it's those characters in a crazy new scenario" it's just a passive "this is official secondary material" thought. Like, there's a difference iin how you immerse in an episode of Regular Show and what you feel seeing material like that.The story they're telling is really good, it deserved to actually be animated well. Even Season 8 looks way above this and that was well into a long-running series where the animation naturally stiffens. This is not a season 9, this is a new series that should've had a fresh budget but somehow it looks like what would've happened if the show continued to run all these years and get worse and worse animation.At least they got to afford Mr Blue Sky and Smoke on the Water.

It's obvious they're trying to do something expressive but the stupid ass animators at Saerom are just using stock models and slightly tweaking them to vaguely match what the storyboards are asking for.However I am also certain new storyboarders are inserting unfitting humor into the show like pic related where it feels off from the start.
