ngl s'kinda funny how quick people are to assume mickey mouise clubhouse was the downfall of him considering he's mostly been overprotected since at least the debut of donald duck (the comics and more recent materials are the exception, but still)
(if you’re wondering what sparked this post, it was somethin’ i saw on twitter)
>>153544675Do you wanna see my dick come off?
>>153545069you joke; but ithink there's like, 3 public domain mickey movies where he saws off someone's junk iirc
>>153544675The downfall of Mickey Mouse has always been how LAME he is as a character. I tried to watch Runaway Brain which is celebrated as Mickey's best short and seeing Mickey screaming so much in that short got annoying. Don't care if he was screaming in fear due to the monster or when he yelled his battle cry for rescuing Minnie because his voice is seriously annoying. More so when he's SCREAMING. And you know what? That's a big reason for why Rudish Mickey is annoying to me, he's scream talking all the time.Mickey Mouse is a character cursed to be lame and annoying to listen to long term. This is what destroyed him. Say what you will about Mickey Mouse inspiring Mario's voice but Nintendo was smart to change Mario's voice in the illumination movies because that Mickey Mouse style voice would be cancer on the ears. And since Disney never changed Mickey's voice that eternally hurt him. That and keeping Mickey as a lame character. Not a shocker Donald and Goofy outshine Mickey. There is no rescuing this character not even when MORE copyrights expire.
>>153546355Stop seething
>>153546355 just say you have falsetto-sensitive ears
>>153544675Is it not the downfall of mickey? Disney gave their beloved in house mascot to third worlders to make a cgi series which is just like everything else, and now every mickey thing since then is just another made for kids thing, not the art it used to be. They're never gonna make something like the old mickey media again, and it just won't be the same if they try
>>153546533What do you want Disney to do? For Mickey's hundredth birthday to make a theatrical movie for him? That would fail for two main reasons. The first is most people don't care about Mickey at all. And secondly lots of people have grown to hate Disney in recent years most notable Star Wars fans.
>>153546614>And secondly lots of people have grown to hate Disney in recent years most notable Star Wars fans.NTA but they could give us a Mickey Movie made in a traditional 2D style as a show of good will to maybe improve their reputation a little bit
>>153546533Mickey's downfall happened long before, when he lost his personality. His older black and white shots are still pretty good.
>>153546614It would be nice if they did and didn't care about corporate statistics or consumer opinions for once
>>153546651also base it off those floyd godffretson comics; they seem like a good baseline to springboard ideas off of
>>153546651>>153546658Sadly we must be realistic. The current regime at Disney doesn't care about anything decent or show good will. They only care about using Disney as a factory to spread The Jewish Message. They will ride this until shareholders combat this but don't worry you must remember shareholders are either in on the scam or idiots, so there is no hope.Disney's future is either bankruptcy or become such a failure brand that they get bought out by a bigger corporation. So there is no decent Mickey Mouse movie coming. The last time you will ever see Mickey Mouse in traditional 2D animation was the short Once Upon A Studio because it celebrated one hundred years of Disney doing business.
>>153546685Talking about it a lot of Mickey's comics entered the public domain this year, more are to come.
>>153546693Lmao, Disney is not going bankrupt or getting bought out in your lifetime son. They're in charge of the most visited amusement parks in the world
>>153546724They suffered a major blow during Corona, and the parks are likely to implode due to their prices.
>>153544675but i like paul rudish mickey mouse??
>>153546785I don't think you understand just how far above Universal Disney is in terms of attendanceThe 4 most visited theme parks in the world are Disney World, Disneyland, Tokyo Disneyland and Shanghai DisneyUniversal Studios Florida had 10 million visitors in 2024Disney World has 18 millionUniversal Studios Hollywood had 8 million visitors in 2024Disneyland in California had 18 millionIt's not even a competition
>>153544912>the show that ruined Mickey Mouse's image and now Disney won't take bother to take risks with the character so we're just stuck with preschoolslop for himThey allowed a literal decade's worth of pic related. How does somebody just gloss over this.
>>153546918Maybe so, but it's going to take decades to erase 8-10 million annual visitors from your park. Point is that this is wishful thinking, it's not happening in our lifetime
>>153546900>people complain about how MM clubhouse is infantilized and basic material for preschoolers>disney lets paul rudish and co. make mickey shorts that don't have to be beholden to the above and experiment with ideas>people still cry
>>153546933It will depend entirely if Disney can latch the future generations
>>153546918>Universal has well...universal appeal. This might surprise you but there are people out there that don't care for slasher movies, Mario, Harry Potter, The Simpsons, or a bunch of no longer relevant 90s action movies.
>>153546976Harry Potter still has a strong hold on newer generations.
>>153544675Is this picture referencing that one creepypasta zoomers used to shit their pants to
Universal is never beating Disneyland in California. Anaheim is a far more convenient place to drive to if you live in Southern California than way up in the foothills where Universal is
>>153546355>Mickey Mouse is a character cursed to be lameHe was epic in his own game desu
>>153547021>>153547056Kingdom Hearts would've been a better example
>>153547075Never played it
>>153547173You just hate everything, don't you?
>>153546900>>153546946Nobody cares about your shitty shorts. They're only ever brought up exclusively to try and prove that Mickey can be wacky and edgy and gross too.
>>153546946as big as they are, these are still the exceptions, not the rule
>>153547636>wackyso just like the shorts of old>edgy and grossbarely, and they're really not that gross. especially compared to things like ren and stimpy or modern spongebob
>>153547098He’s a king.
>>153547636>They're only ever brought up exclusively to try and prove that Mickey can be wacky and edgy and gross too.Yes, that was the whole point of the original post - to prove that Disney spent the previous decade doing more than just "preschoolslop" with the character.
>>153548757ye i think i mentioned that they've had some recent experiments for the timetho that pales in comparison to a milquetoast century of staid suburbanism (at least in the states)
>>153548666also you can apparently see him at disneyland
>>153546614You can easily make a Mickey Mouse feature movie, especially for a big anniversary like that. You just have to use Donald and Goofy as well and evoke classic "Lonely Ghosts" type humor.I mentioned this before, but the best way to make a big Disney celebration movie about Mickey would be to make it about him and Minnie actually getting married. Romantic comedy and drama mixed with cartoon slapstick. Make it Mickey's Goof Troop.
>>153546614>Prince and Pauper>Musketeers>BeanstalkThey can do another fairy tale feature. They can do anything they want and just cast the Mickey Mouse characters in it. Instant merch force multiplier.
>>153547010that's the thing; it's "in california"lookit how crazy florida has been (that's where the real money comes from)
>>153547636They're also some of the best displays of slapstick cartooning to come out of the 2010s, Mickey Mouse or not.
>>153546533I've heard of snow-cones, but this is RIDICULOUS
