Effectively turning him from an active benefactor of complacency into a guy who had a single moment of weakness in a historical case infamously filled with conflicting accounts and misinformation?That's the issue. The idea that Angel's victim isn't to instantly say he's a good person, but to soften the blow to something the audience can already pre-forgive without the show having to work for it.
