>"Spider-Man was one of my favorite characters growing up, If not my favorite," Joe Russo said in an exclusive interview with CBR's Sean O'Connell. "And what I related to was this idea of a kid with incredible responsibility, right? And I think you could manifest that responsibility through accidental death, right? And feeling the pressure, and the sense of loss in your life in a way that would keep the spirit that we wanted.Russo continued: "[But] what Tom Holland is as an actor, if he blamed himself for his Uncle Ben's death, I think he becomes a very different character. So in our minds, no, he wasn't responsible for Uncle Ben's death. That would have been a different interpretation. A more intense interpretation of the character.">Spider-Man's MCU Trauma Is Tied to Aunt May, Not Uncle Ben
>>153560544>When you can do the things that I can, but you don't, and then the bad things happen... they happen because of youI dunno, isn't that more explicit self-blame than>With great power comes great responsibility?
>>153561842garfields version is still the best. the picture quality is too gray but if the first movie hadnt been unfairly trashed then asm2 could have developed those ideas.
>>153560544>if he blamed himself for his Uncle Ben's death, I think he becomes a very different character…you mean Spider-Man?
>>153562057>garfields version is still the bestBen jumping for a dropped gun is retarded, the movie was fairly trashed.Peter not helping out due to chocolate milk isn't a good way to imitate the pettiness in the comic origin either, it's just stupid.
>>153560544This is why I hated the new cartoon. Having Peter start as a superhero right when he gets his powers is gay as fuck. He has the absolute best super hero origin, he starts out as this kid with a chip on his shoulder, lucks into powers and uses them selfishly because of the chip on his shoulder. The selfishness bites him in the ass in the worst way and he realizes he shouldn’t be a dick and he needs to help people. Perfect character arc. But it’s like this generation just can’t wrap their brain around something like a character arc, if a character does something bad at any point they’re always bad, everyone needs to be a paragon of virtue right out the gate
>>153560544Ah so the performative "script notes" article wasn't enough. Now the Russos have to retcon what was the case or what they thought back then, when Civil War was coming out and all the details were up in the air. And there is no way it was all planned out to what it is now. NWH and BND are living proof of that. You don't do OMD 2.0 unless you massively fucked up with little Iron Boy Jr. unless you now suddenly need to go back to a more familiar Spider-Man status quo.You can't have corporations suddenly think they can fool us into thinking this always what they thought their Spidey should be. They just wanted to get the origin implied and have Peter act like a softboi faggot because corpos/gen X'ers can only think he's a nerd character and thus he needs to be submissive and lame. If Tom is so good and he can be so intense, then how come you can't translate that through your staff's writers matching that while maintaining the PG-13 rating? Oh yeah they are all talentless faggots.
>>153562856Forgot to add, but movies are planned years in advance, cost millions, and them going back on these ideas can only be evidence that they don't know what they are doing. They have it all set in stone. They can't go back on this shit. So articles like this are just them trying to get you to buy into their cope. Where have we heard the "erm...it's OUR interpretation...?" excuse before...oh yeah...every single other previous comic movie before this one.....
>>153562650>if a character does something bad at any point they’re always bad, everyone needs to be a paragon of virtue right out the gateIt's so much worse than that. Paragons would have to be competent by default. Every character has to be a deeply flawed, emotionally stunted fuck up, but not SO bad as to qualify as completely monstrous, least they become a threat to be eradicated. Good and evil hardly exist anymore, just muddled shades of gray sloshing from one side to the other, but never truly reaching beyond the middle.
>>153562082Yeah, they definitely don't want thatBeing a pissed off, angry and emotional teen who has to struggle for money is not wholesome chungus enough to hit all the quadrantsThey want Iron Lad
>>153560544>aunt may dies on his arms>says the line>WTF THERE IS NO UNCLE BEN WTF!?!?!?how is this news?
>>153560544Basically MCU Aunt May is Parker and not Reilly. There's no Uncle Ben and Aunt May never married
MCU Ant Man and MCU Spider-Man are OOC to me because they only fuck OCs who don't actually exist in the comics to no one's surprise. Do people really spend their money on them? I spent my money only on Endgame because Captain America and Iron Man didn't fuck OCs.
