Do you quit reading a comic book series or limited series if the first issue is bland or not enjoyable or do you stick around for a few issues or finish it.

There's a probably a point in reading the chapter 1 of these comics when ASM reaches #1000

Probably.

>When buying it
I've probably only bought it because I'm desperately trying to make something I thought I might like continue. Or trying to save a character. Sometimes, an author or artist. I've got about 2-3 issues in me, unless general sentiment tells me to like it, or I get a cheap price from an outlet supplier.

>When lend like from the library
If a friend lends me a trade or books, I'll read whatever they offered me. It's nice of them. I'll read almost all of it. I prefer reading books digitally instead of going to a library, though.

>When pirating
I end up reading so much shit that I can't stand, but storytimes have kept me here and on other sites. If it weren't for piracy, I don't think I'd read or buy comics anymore.

If the set-up is boring but has potential I will give it a chance i.e. the "Wait and let them cook" mindset but I will lose patience if it is clear they are just dicking around or start writing characters wildly OoC like Stephanie Phillips' Phoenix once it became clear she didn't give a shit and just skimmed ChatGPT summaries of Jean's history even before she implicitly admitted she only took the book on as a creative quid pro quo so she could write Binary.

Jonathan Hickman I've turned on because he has a bad habit with this with Krakoa and most recently with Nu-Ultimate USM (not helped by that obnoxious frequent real time skip gimmick that made things more confusing and harder to follow than they should have been which hurts me to say because it's still better than anything ASM shat out post-Spencer.)

I stop reading when the character stops behaving in a way consistent with a way I like. Or the story direction goes badly.

Ill drop a storyline if its crap and wait it out. If the character changes dramatically away from what I expect for no organic reason then I drop the character completely.

When it comes to pirated stuff I indulge in completed comics Ive heard about. Even stuff that has good stuff going for it but nothing I would ever pay to read. But mostly I finish off storylines I enjoy and read backstories of characters and influential stories that created the current status quo of certain characters

>When buying it
It has been so long since I've ever actually bought a comic that I genuinely can't remember. But I think 1. But I also know media today isn't made for people like me, that are capable of resisting the sunk cost fallacy and can just tap-out when something is shit but promises to get interesting later.

>When lend like from the library
I've never gotten comics from a library. Anything from the library I usually just stop reading when I don't have any interest in reading more, or I have to put it down but don't feel any urge to pick it up again.

>When pirating
Basically the same as a library book.
>>
>>153563158
I give it a few issues, usually. If it's really bad, I put it down maybe a few pages into the first issue.
>>
>>153563158
Less quit and more put it aside for a while so I can find something good. Eventually I get back to it when I am bored

>When buying it
I usually only buy if I'm sure it's good, so I try to read it to the end.

>When lend like from the library
That's usually how I decided if it was good enough to buy (I read it in the library instead of taking it home).

>When pirating
In general, IF I like the art and characters, I give it a chance. maybe like 2~5 issues. But if it doesn't pick up the pace I just drop it.

Now if the art sucks or the characters are annoying, I at most read one chapter so just my rage is justified against it.

Same. I hate inconsistency man, both regarding characters and the story.
I find it extremely unfair to the audience. I know it is the author's call at the end of the day, but come on.

Reading?

The author has a responsility to their audience.
>>
>>153563158
Skip ahead about 6 issues and skim, look for if it gets better and I care how it gets there.
