>>153567736Nah
>>153567725If lots of people like Zutara there’s clearly a market for it and creators should follow those energies.
"Listen to fans", "Just hire fans", "the fans will treat the material right."No. That's retarded and we've seen the outcome of it multiple times now. That's how you end up with a staff who go out of their way to canonize their favorite ship regardless of how it effects the rest of the story. That's how you end up with a ton of memberberries. That's how it becomes canon that "character have depwession".Hiring fans is utterly retarded unless you've carefully vetted them to make sure they haven't interacted much with the larger fandom to ensure they're not just gonna vomit fanfiction all over the proper canon. We have seen this play out multiple times now. Just look at Fionna and Cake, is that what you people want? A fucking canon coffee shop AU? Because that's what you fucking get when you "hire fans".
>>153570515Back in the day writers might get things about the original material wrong, though I'd say back then them getting it right was more likely, but they weren't outright hostile to it either, what happened to that?
>>153570515>Just look at Fionna and Cake, is that what you people want? A fucking canon coffee shop AU? Because that's what you fucking get when you "hire fans"I’m afraid that the people being the og show also did that series, anon..
>>153567725Avatar: The last airbender would’ve been hated had it been released today.>grifters would’ve called it woke because of katara and toph.>artstyle would be hated because it looks like the western anime art style>Any show these days that have continuity is labeled as “loreslop”.
>>153570587>>153570653Okay, I've talked about this before. You have to consider a rather simple factor. The rise of online fandom culture. When you look at the average fan of something who grew up a fan of something today, you're not just looking at what they are a fan of, you're looking at their fandom for the property and what was actually on the screen, the fanart scenes, the memes, the fanfictions and fan comics, the theories and popular interpretations, the common complaints and the "that didn't age wells".All of this has effected their perception of the brand, all of this has subconsciously effected how they view specific characters or specific moments or plot threads or conflicts. You see this with Clone High S2 on the "Abe is mean to Joan and disregards her" compared to the actual running joke that he was oblivious to her feelings. This is sorta just how stuff works now.Even P&F's reboot has gone out of the way to turn certain one off jokes into running gags because said jokes became memes, because of creator-fandom interaction."Chewbacca gets the medal", Solo making Han's big arc "he shoot first".Fandoms aren't just communities built around these things, they're basically free focus groups and they influence both fan and creator alike. So fan writers come in "repping the fandom", which often means artistic integrity dies.
>>153570515this desu
>>153570515It's a delicate balancing act that involves more winking and giving the fans a hearty nibble than handing over the entire pie.
>>153571171If anything it would have ended up like onyx equinox, seis manos, or best case scenario troll huntersit being released on nickelodeon/netflix is a bigger factor on how it would be treated tooand because no one has done anything multi asian culture/and inuit related it would have been finekorra on the other hand would fit your complaints

>>153567725You people take the internet opinions of childrens cartoons wayyyy too seriously.Stop looking at cartoons through adult eyes and getting mad they aren't srs bznz.Toonami and Death Battle threads need to be banned on sight, especially death battle.Youtube was right to classify TADC as children's media.>pulls pin>releases safety spoon
>>153573049>Youtube was right to classify TADC as children's media.Nope, coomertard
>>153571542and if the time spent on fandom dwarfs the time spent with the source, it creates stronger associations and attachments to the fan-tent than the thing it’s a fan of
