What is the worst thing that ever happened to you at your LCS?

I'm a little offended that Dorken decided to perpetuate this stereotype.

My sister got knocked up by the guy who ran the place.
I really hate him.

There was this one time a schizo method acting cosplayer threatened me because I don't read lowbrow slop like I Hate Fairyland.

Women entering a male space SHOULD be shamed out of it.
>>
>>153568380
No (biological) female would enter a comic book shop of her own volition
>>
>>153568042
Someone rammed a truck through the front door to steal pokemon cards.
>>
>>153568236
It exists for a reason, anon.
>>
>>153568042
So comic fans killed comics.
>>
>>153568284
Quite disappointing what they did with this comic

If your target demographic is actively working towards your demise, it's you the businessman who's doing something wrong.
>>
>>153568042
I wouldn't be this combative about it
>>
>>153568380
Honestly yeah, men have these spaces for a reason, no reason for whores to be welcomed.

I once went into a larger comic book store and one of the female employees said some dumb shit that glazed MJ too much like something about her immediately taking part in civil rights protests and supporting Randy or something when in actuality if you read those books, she's just happy to be there, kind of agrees with Randy or the other black fella when they're mad at Norman but then she like also takes Peter's stance where they don't have a stake and kinda try to defuse the situation.
I'm a big MJ enjoyer and think she is a great character but women and libs pretending like certain writing was made for them when it clearly was of it's time and trying to depict people's hang ups and fears with realism and nuance is something they can't acknowledge. Yeah not really that bad, but goddamn did I want to pull out the issue on a pirate site and force her to fucking see what delusion she was under.

>Went to the big comic shop.
>Listened to a female employee give the worst book recommendations I have ever heard to a group of girls.

>Went to the smaller comic shop.
>Loud obnoxious female customer talking about how much of a fan of shit she is and all this random stuff.
>She was the type of person who brags about reading the book before seeing the film so she can tell her friends it isn't like the book.
>When she left, everyone burst out laughing and the owner said she was chatting so much shit because this is the first time she has ever been in here.
>>
>>153568042
Not to me per se but one time I was just looking through the racks by the counter when this guy came in and asked the owner if they had a model of the new (at the time) batmobile from Batman Begins, and for some reason the owner just flipped his shit and started yelling that at the guy that that's not the sort of thing they sold and that he should get the fuck out. I didn't go to that store very often so I dunno if they had some kind of a history or what, but to this day I occasionally wonder what was up with that.
>>
>>153570765
I've been to many a LCS where there were women as both customers and working there and other than general nerd shit, there was nothing ever made about it.
>>
>>153568042
My fat sister in law tripped and fell down and broke some DnD figures. Not really me but it was embarrassing to be seen with her.
>>
>>153574340
I once asked a shop owner why he was pushing The Dark Knight Returns 2 (it was a while ago), cuz it sucked, and he said because nerds are gonna buy it and he's gonna sell it to them. I've never forgot that. That shop clerk you saw was a dumbass.

>wife and I at LCS
>we live in Methylvannia
>guy who obviously spends paychecks on meth is dragging his daughter to the counter with a funko pop
>meth dad tells clerk at the counter they found the same funko pop they just bought at the comic store at the local books a million for two dollars cheaper and demands his money back
>clerk tells meth dad they don’t do cash returns but he can give them store credit
>meth dad starts getting aggressive, yelling about how there’s no signs saying no cash returns
>clerk points at sign on register that literally says “no cash returns”
>meth dad starts screaming at clerk about how he’s stealing money from his daughter, his daughter is begging to leave
>wife wants to see what’s happening so we pretend to be looking at something close to the register so we can listen
>clerk reiterates he can give store credit
>meth dad turns to my wife and me and goes “do you think I’m unreasonable?!? Do you think I’m wrong for wanting my daughter’s money back??!”
>I tell the guy store policy is store policy, yelling at the clerk isn’t gonna help
>meth dad screams at the clerk some more then drags his daughter out of the store
My LCS when I was a kid in the early 2000s stopped getting new comics in to get solely on Heroclix was worse but not as good a story

One free comic book day my main store didn't have the one that I wanted. I went to a different store that required a purchase to get the free books. I looked through their shitty selection and found one thing I could stomach buying and when I went to pay the owner made some crack about me being a big spender. Just annoying enough to make sure I never went back.
>>
>>153568042
They started to have "gaming" days (like Pokemon)
These people legit smell bad even by comic book store standards.

Gerry Conway was pretty lib and feminist though, if you’re talking about 60’s/70’s issues.

A natural 20 stone attack roll?

>>153570765
Yes, as does the 'fake geek girl' stereotype and the 'blacks are violent, low IQ apes' stereotype. Interestingly, the author decided not to perpetuate either of those.

Comic book stores are genuinely bizarre places. They live and die based on good customer service and yet so many of them only existed because they were the only shop in town run by "enthusiasts". My local one has good people who genuinely know their stuff and can tailor recommendations or order a book they think you'll like but every other one I have visited has been some level of awful. A lot of other businesses don't need this level of customer service to keep people coming back.

I mean the whole system is archaic for people.
>You have to read solicits and order shit far in advance so a shop can order these things for you.
And most normal people now are the type of person who wants to just pick up the latest manga volume off a shelf, no one has time for this shit. So shops diversify with a variety of shit too. But then the fact you would get people who would shit on your purchases or start fights in shops, is to me just bizarre. But the higher concentration of spergs just does that.

>>You have to read solicits and order shit far in advance so a shop can order these things for you.
What's crazy to me is books aren't available to order immediately after solicitations are sent out. You have to wait a few weeks, and then make sure you order it before the cut-off, which is usually three-four weeks before release day. Why the fuck do this companies advertise something if I can't immediately order it? If you announce a book, I want to get it ordered then, not two-three weeks later when I'll inevitably forget, and that's now a sale lost.
>>
>>153577594
I have seen shop owners get mad at people buying off the rack because these people never knew there was an ordering system either. No one ever taught them, this is what you do and how you do it. I get that publishing needs order numbers, that shops don't want to sit on a load of stock etc, but yes, it just feels weird to people.
>>
>>153576729
pretty cool frames he got in
>>
>>153574340
>that's not the sort of thing they sold
The LGS I but from used to have a dry erase board behind the counter with a running list of things they don't sell but had been asked about. Some of them were pretty funny, but they got rid of it around covid and I don't remember anything except RC cars.

>>153571136
At least its over now

The comic industry killed comics. The absolute steadfast refusal to hold writers (and editors) to any kind of real standard has been the cancer killing this meme industry since forever.
>>
Ive never been to one, its alien here only some very specific places have one.
I get most of my comics online or by newstands, and the weirdest thing that ever happened to me there was noticing a huge ass porn section on the upper side that ive never seen before, who the fuck buys physical porn in 2026??
>>
>>153576828
In that scenario they wouldn't be purchasing the product. Which is bad if the product is developed for them and no one else wants it. This is the case with quite a few properties now. Rejecting the "problematic" old existing fanbase in favor of a new one that doesn't exist and never will.
>>
>>153579628
It's crazy honestly. Corruption in huge rich corporations producing important stuff is one thing: there's enough money to siphon and enough good will to burn through. But WTF is the comic industry thinking with all their cronyism and anti-meritocratic behavior? They're going to go bankrupt soon. WTF are the investors thinking?
>>
>>153580932
They aren’t?

Two fat guys in slipknot shirts came in and coughed constantly without purchasing a single thung before leaving.

>Placed a pre-order for an Artist Edition
>No confirmation from lcs, what-so-ever
>Months passed, release date came near
>Got panicky, placed new order from another shop
>1-week later, first lcs told me the book came
>Told them what happened
>Owner kinda pissed since the book was expensive, still 'customer is always right' rule set in.

I'm too ashamed to visit my lcs for the time being.
