The other groovies weren't that detached from their source material, and I still really love this one, but it really sticks out as being particularly strange.

I wonder if Eds would've devolved more into surreal/fantasy shit had it gone on longer. The Eds Are Coming felt like a taste of that.

That episode was unique because it was part of the whole alien invasion crossover event Cartoon Network was doing with it and other shows which I think excuses some of the supernatural near the end. But I guess we did have that Evil Tim thing so maybe it's possible it would have eventually played more with it?
