I think Lute and Adam are so endearing because Lute looks like she should barely tolerate him but she actually has the biggest soft spot in the world for her one chud. Like not even in a tsundere way. She drops the stick in the ass thing to indulge his antics only for him.

Not only was she in love with Adam but she also got better treatment when she was with him. She was allowed to speak up in front of senior angels because being with him lended her some authority. And Viv has said in interviews that Adam genuinely supported her and was the only person to do so. If you contrast her treatment with Adam to her treatment with Abel, who puts her down in public (I'm talking about the court scene in S2E2 rather than the season finale, which was justified) and literally walks all over her. I find that interesting when Adam is supposed to be the sexist one and Abel is more progressive.
The whole dynamic is lovely. Adam who is supposed to be the ultimate toxic male, a guy who has huge complexes and insecurities about women and belittles them when he can, having endless meaningless sex and breaking their hearts and who has no qualms physically beating women who he deems to be his enemy. And then you give him a female subordinate, let him name her, tell him her job is to basically shadow him, do whatever he tells her to do and bend to his will.And he decides that of all women this one is his friend, gives her a voice and allows her to be more than what the elders designed her to be. He hasn't even banged her and if he wanted her to be his full time sex slave he could do it in an instant

The idea that Lute was in some kind of abusive relationship with Adam makes no fucking sense because Adam was never in a relationship with her. And it's because he DOES care about her because if he had no feelings for her I guarantee he would have fucked and dumped her by now. Adam is so scared of losing Lute how he lost Lilith and Eve to Lucifer by being too overbearing that he overcorrects and Lute is his dog with no fucking leash. He lets her do fucking whatever, be rude in front of Sera, terrorize her subordinates, yell at him when he's dumb and he won't make a move because he thinks he'll fuck it up and lose her even though it's what she wants more than anything.Anyway I like this ship.

Don't forget she was about to kill herself in the blast and truthfully Adam wouldn't want that.
