Did Sinbad deserve to flop so hard?

It isn't my cup of tea but it is so much better than everything the animation industry has done in the last 15 years.
>>
>>153572040
have.. I ever seen or heard of this? I can't tell.
>>
>>153574856
It's an early 2000s DreamWorks movie and i think geenrally got forgotten about
>>
>>153572040
It's kinda brutal when you realize Sinbad basically just ruins his childhood friend's life multiple times only to end on "Well at least you didn't get me killed, so we're good".

Hope that Proteus finds someone else. He deserves it
>>
>>153572040
I'm just saying if I had to choose between saving Proteus or being seduced by Eris then the wedding and the funeral may be on the same day.
>>
>>153572040
It went from Sinbad to Sinworse?
>>
>"You would do the same for me"
>"No, I wouldn't"
At least he's honest
>>
>>153574856
Let me....just read your mind
>>
>Disney didn't submit Atlantis for the academy award because they chose to place their bet on Monsters Inc

>DreamWorks didn't submit Sinbad for the academy award because they stopped giving a shit about the movie after it flopped
There's a difference
>>
>>153572040
I only vaguely know of Sinbad.
Isn't it a lot of "So I squandered my wealth, but then I went on a voyage poor people could never afford and found other wealth. So I thus deserve to be rich!"?
>>
>>153572040
THE ISSUE is it made pirates look cool and pirating is NO NO for the streaming empire
>>
>>153575551
That's basically the original legend. The movie has very little resemblance to the actual legend that it's based on.
>>
>>153572040
>protagonist cucks his bestfriend
>>
>>153575551
Yeah, but also, mythical Sinbad is a VERY different character that goes through very different shit than this Sinbad. Really, all this Sinbad has is the name and that he's a sailor, that's it.
>>
>>153572040
Yeah I'd say so.
>>
>>153574887
I might be one of the only people to have major nostalgia for it. I used to watch it whenever it aired. Eris and Sinbad make this movie.
>>
>>153572040
I just watched it and I already forgot about 85% of it.
So yes.
Also, they litearlly made an entire pirate ship subsist on pickles and eggs to make a throwaway dick joke in the middle of the movie.
>>
>>153575040
Yeah, man's a bona fide paladin.

>>153575551
I didn't know the part about him starting rich and losing the wealth.
>>
I liked it, the animation in 2d is good though the 3d bits are rough. Sinbad not being a muslim and having everything set in a faux-greek world was a weird choice, but w/e it gave us Eris, which is the best incarnation of this goddess there's ever been (Low bar, but it is good)
>>
People like to say that Shrek killed 2D animation, but they're wrong. It was Treasure Planet, Finding Nemo, and Sinbad what killed 2D animation
>>
>>153572040
I always felt like Sinbad and El Dorado were two sides of the same coin
One if painfully mediocre film with bland cast BUT with fantastic enjoyable villain
The other is a fantastic film with hilarious and colorful cast BUT painfully bland and uninteresting villain(s)
