What went so wrong? Why weren't the original creators involved?
One of the original creators wrote it.Nothing went wrong. Why do you think your opinion is widely held and everyone will know what it is?
>>153573774They got in trouble with the network, for all the killing in the 3rd season, in the red lotus arc. Showing the earth queen being air choked by the air bad guy was to edgy and that, took them off the air for a while and the episodes had to air online
>>153573819>Nothing went wrong.Nope
>>153573774The lesson is democracy is better that a corrupt monarchy unless the guy I don't like win the election in wich case the monarch that happens to be friendly to my cause should remain king.
>>153573819It’s a dog shit comic. It reads like low rate fanfiction.
>>153573774The excitement of the original Avatar was watching the characters slowly and progressively build up to a single looming goal, with plenty of breathing room for levity and much smaller self-contained stories. Why Korra decided to try bouncing around like five different central conflicts, I’ll never know
>>153573774The first Korra comic was better, which is also the one with the least amount of attempts at political commentary.
>>153573774Its good comics
>>153573774>Why weren't the original creators involved? they was tired
>>153573874I thought it was because Nick wanted to free up air time for more Spongebob, and wrote the show off as a flop.
>>153574092Because HBO!
>>153574092Nick was constantly breathing down the creators necks, wanting to be more involved this time, wanting to make more involved in the creative process. They demanded the plots be self contained within each season. Since they had no long term faith in its success, and wanted the option to cancel it at any point they wanted.
>>153576596You still believe in auteur theory?
>>153573774>Asami gets brainwashed and they literally do nothing with it>Kuvira gets a slap on the wrist and is given house arrest under SuyinBUT>if you squint really hard implied Korrasami sex
>Can't decide on Korra's characterisation, is she a hothead or is she diplomat woman?>Korra is in general a pretty terrible and flat character a lot of the time.>Shipping and romance plot for the tumblr audience.>Republic City is boring.>Pro bending is boring.>The technological leap felt jarring sometimes.>Neoliberal status quo endings.>Subverting expectations style twists.>How are non-benders treated? Who cares! Amon is an evil blood bender!>How do the spirits conflict with the modern world? Who cares! Dark Avatar Time!>What happens when archaic regimes fall? Who cares! I must kill the Avatar now, I'm Bane!>What happens when fascism rises? Who cares! Spirit vine cannons, mechs!>Every interesting theme was ruined.>Non-benders now have a council member, problem solved?>Wan story and the Lion Turtle just handing out bending.Personally:>I would make Korra a Republic City native (descendant of Water Tribe who settled there) who discovers she is the Avatar, the White Lotus try to shape her into maintaining the balance but she wants to change things having lived on the streets but she realises change is difficult as she navigates things. >All the plots of, non-benders, spirits, regime change, rising fascism, could easily fit this overarching narrative of the changing world. >Cut Amon being a blood bender, cut Dark Avatar, just have the spirit world out of whack, change Zaheer a bit, and Kuvira too, explore the themes.
>>153576629The first Avatar was hands off, and allowed them to take their time on character development. Along with more time dedicated to world building, which all things scaled back in Korra.
>>153576731All lofty ideas, which if given 3 seasons or more to write would have all made for memorable villain stories.
>>153576749>The first Avatar was hands offHands off? As if everything just sprang from the brows of Bryke?
>>153573774It went wrong because of the original creator.
>>153573774Why no adult Azula?
>>153575217Is it?
>>153574032>Corrupt democracy is better than corrupt monarchy >It's better to have near a thousand people steal from the taxpayer's coffers than having 1 family and their close friends do itUhhh yup anon. Democracy is better and saying otherwise means your a Nazi. I'm not brainwashed.
>>153576731Well yes anon, suddenly all the people that voted Kuvira into power disappeared.
>>153576838Avatar has two (2) creators, though.
>>153573774>What went so wrong? It was too successful and that triggered many a chud like OP
>>153573774The writing, probably disagreed with the writing or were busy. Could also be that Nick didn’t want to pay them all and hopped it would cost by on fan recognition. In the end we know it didn’t work for Nick that’s why the final season of Korra wasn’t aired on tv.
The "idea guys" whose concepts were refined by a team of actual professional writers for ATLA got full of themselves and thought they could do it on their own. They couldn't. Pretty much a Star Wars Prequels situation
