Keeper of the Reaper is actually shit. If I had to compare that episode to anything it would be Atlantis Squarepantis. You have this concept and the concept sucks. Not a single character is allowed to be themselves aside from some weird flanderized version. Shitty music number. Obvious ad break. Nothing really at stake. Nothing to lose, nothing to gain. And by the end you are only left with a headache

Guess I have to be the contrarian and say that I actually prefer the later half of the show over the first half. I think the first season is pretty good but the second is mostly pretty fucking boring and mediocre with the exception of a few standouts.

Double D is a nerd, but can still hang out and do physical stuff. In S5 he is a huge clean freak that’s too weak to even participate in gym class. Eddy changed the least, but they seemed to lower him down to Ed’s S1 level of intelligence to fill the gap made by making Ed a full on retard. Not sure why CN pushed all their existing shows to do this to their characters. Was dude RANDOM really that big at this point?
