>Haha wouldn't it be ridiculous if we remade the first South Park episode like Spielberg and Lucas with their movies?
>Current day
Does exactly that
Honestly I'm not even mad
>>
>>153582626
I just need to know how they did those scenes
Most of Anal Probe is just the film rescanned but there were computer animated scenes since it aired because Matt and Trey had to restructure the story to fit the runtime. I don't know if they used computer for the reanimation or if they actually used construction paper because it's really fucking convincing
>>
Artists have the right to change their own art. Simple as.
>>
>>153582626
>Does exactly that
when? are you talking about the hd remasters for the first few seasons?
>>
>>153582780
Yes. 90 percent are unchanged beyond resolution and aspect ratio but the pilot has scenes that are clearly reanimated. As does An Elephant Fucks a Pig
>>
>>153582626
Trey was already warming up to the idea since the commentary for the movie where he states that he sees where Lucas was coming from.

>Made an episode about how physical media is dead and worthless in the streaming era
>Continues to not only make DVDs of their show but went through the trouble to put the first decade of the show on Blu-ray.
>In fact, South Park held (possibly still holds) the record for the most seasons on blu
>>

>90 percent are unchanged beyond resolution
Just like the Star Wars special editions? Matt and Trey are raping history.
>>
>>153582626
nobody, including matt and trey, were complaining about the star wars special editions improving the visuals of existing scenes.
everyone was complaining about changing scenes or adding in new scenes
either stop being disingenuous, or stop being stupid, whichever applies here.
>>
>>153582924
examples:
removing the boxes around the tie fighters was a good change
animating the dewbacks was a bad change
>>
>>153582626
Changes are good if they're an improvement. Which the right image clearly is
South Park looks shockingly good in HD
>>
>>153582626
fat and gay porker do it again
>>
>>153582941
>animating the dewbacks was a bad change
how is that a bad change? the original animatronic broke down during filming and barely moved.
>>
>>153582626
>South Park could look like this if they actually wanted to
It hurts
>>
>>153582924
>everyone was complaining about changing scenes or adding in new scenes
Most people never complained about the new editions. They were massively succesful and popular upon release.
>improving the visuals of existing scenes
> changing scenes or adding in new scenes
These are the same thing in 98% of the films lol. Do you draw the line at replacing the X-wings with CGI even though the edit matches 1:1 frame by frame with the original? Is that a changed scene or the same scene with improved visuals? The new scenes are stuff like 5 seconds of Naboo in ROTJ or old scenes put back in (Jabba, 5 seconds of Biggs)
>>
>>153582626
Unironically a better remaster than most shows have gotten
>>
>>153583021
>Do you draw the line at replacing the X-wings with CGI even though the edit matches 1:1 frame by frame with the original?
yes
models look better
>>153582962
...and?
>>
>>153583021
You can't honestly be this delusional. The special editions were INFAMOUSLY complained about.
>>
>>153583035
Garfield & Friends got a good one too. The only problem is they lost the masters to the intro of the first two seasons. So they reanimated in flash and it looks very stiff. Everything else is great though.
>>
>>153583098
>effect didn't work
>add effect that does
how is that bad? you didn't know SW did always have dewbacks even in 1977 did you
>>
>>153583110
The Special editions were massively popular and among the top grossing films in 1997. Boomers crying about it have always been a minority. Most liked the new presentation or didn't mind it as the film is 98% the exact same except without shitty analog compositing with black borders
>The “Special Edition” of “Star Wars” remained the box-office champion for the third straight week with a four-day holiday take of $21.4 million. This past Thursday, the 1977 sci-fi classic sped past “E.T.” to become the top domestic grosser ever with a two-decade total of $421.4 million. “Star Wars” has made $98.6 million in its first 17 days of re-release.
>>
>>153583138
>effect that didn't work still looks fine on screen
>"effect" that does "work" looks bad
yes, that's a bad thing.
and yes, i did know. that's why i said they animated them, you idiot.
>>
>>153583192
You're forgetting to take into account the simple aspect of "oh, Star Wars on the big screen again", regardless of any changes made.
>>
>>153583211
Correct. Most people liked the new presentation or didn't mind it at all.
>>
>>153582626
Wendy and Stan were so cute. A shame Trey turned them into a distaff Randy and Sharon
>>
>>153583198
You've never seen a print of the 77 version. The current version looks much better. Making a new dewback effect where there was already a dewback effect isn't any different from improving the lightsaber blades. Keep in mind Star Wars is one movie that took a guy 30 years to make. Bringing elements from 1977 to the same level of the last parts to be finished to make it visually consistent actually makes sense.
>>
>>153583291
Most of us weren't even aware of the changes until we saw them on screen. It was a lot easier to keep that sort of thing quiet back then.
>>
>>153583346
It was advertised as an enhanced version.
>>
>>153582654
>or if they actually used construction paper
They can make it look like it was made with paper with digital tools. South Park animation is done with Motion Tween and Tweening is basically moving a digital paperdoll anyway.
>>
>>153583332
I've seen the closest I was able to, the laserdisc. In the special editions, effects like the lightsabers are a huge improvement, as is replacing Yub Nub as the ending in Return of the Jedi. There's also a lot of unnecessary or even bad changes. The problem isn't remastering in general, it's that George
>may have gone too far in a few places
Han shot first.
>>
>>153583332
>current version
original special edition or actual current version? you could maybe argue the former, but in the intervening years george has compulsively returned to add worse cgi effects and butcher the greedo scene. you think literally every single bit of it is an improvement? maclunkey

I don't have friends anymore
Art friend left after he got a girlfriend because he said she's his priority now and he wants to become a better person
>>
>>153583663
and why did you choose a pic of TADC?
>>
>>153582626
Didn't they make an episode shitting on freemium games? And then Phone Destroyer happened?
>>
>>153583291
You have a reading disability
>>
>>153582626
But... they already kinda remade the episode before. Fuck they are out of ideas.

I always wondered what's the proper term for a platonic relationship ending because one party was more focused on a romantic one.
There must be one, right?

Friendly friendzoning?

>Remastering an episode vs altering already existing films
>>
>>153582626
The South Park remasters are good, but it’s admittedly strange watching remastered episodes before season 6 because the art style was less detailed back then.
>>
>>153587550
It was better that way
>>
Didn't they make an episode about how mobile games are bullshit?

And then they put out a couple anyway.
>>
>>153589042
Yes, they did. Phone Destroyer (Rest in peace) uses the exact shit they made fun of.

Why did they do it?
