Is Diehard the closest we'd get to an "Absolute Captain America"?

Would a Youngblood adaptation be well received today?
Absolute was Ultimate, bud. And Ultimate Cap was stupid. Dunno why you think Image's knockoff supersoldier is anything to do with Absolute thematically.
>>153586372I feel Ultimate only messed with the characters on account of the writers not giving a shit, it wasn't the gimmick of the run.
>>153586399I was and continue to be under the impression the purpose of both Ultimate and Absolute is just to give the writers more freedom to do whatever and then hoping something decent falls out. Which is why a lot of Ultimate stories were edgy nonsense. Maybe it's not *strictly* equivalent in Absolute to Ultimate, there's certainly differences in how the individual series are handled and the overall theming, but it's pretty similar in the intent of giving more leeway.
>>153586297Ironically Youngblood's biggest hook, superheroes being celebrity government agents, has been done better elsewhere since Youngblood was the first to do it in '92. I think after the MCU being a thing Youngblood would just be seen as a cheap knock off. Unless they went full bore and did an R-rated adaption
